“A delightful Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2010

My family and I recently stayed a few nights in this Mecure hotel as part of a European holiday and found it lived up tp all expections. The staff were simply delightful. Although not in Tours itself it is close to the major highway yet no road noise was evident. The standard room was well equipped the beds were comfortable and the shower was divine. The breakfast was plentiful and restaurant provided an excellent evening meal. I can thoroughly recommend the Mecure Tours Nord.

“Excellent family hotel in heart of Loire. Friendly staff.”

We arrived hideously late having been given duff instructions by Michelin Route. Staff were very pleasant. Room clean and comfortable. Breakfast copious and served for a good long time. Was nice to be able to eat outside. Good range of holiday info about the region and sold useful map of Loire Chateaux too.

“Just Above Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2010

This hotel is located in the north of Tours in an industrial area near the airport. There are few shops or restaurants in the immediate vicinity. However for us, it made a good base for visiting the surrounding Loire Valley by car, as parking was free and the autoroutes nearby. Our triple room was clean and modern. It was also quite spacious, even with the third bed unfolded, compared to other hotels we've stayed in. The hotel offered wifi, but only in the first three floors and it was very expensive. We ate in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner and neither meal was a great experience. Both were highly over-priced and the service terrible. We waited at least twenty minutes to get service for dinner, but didn't leave because there was nothing else close by. Generally, though the stay itself was okay. We slept well as it was quiet, dark, and the bed were fairly comfortable. All-in-all, just another average hotel.

“Okay but overpriced...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2009

We stayed in a family room (teenager, 15, and 2 adults) but weren't informed at booking stage that children under 16 can stay free in the parents' room; only found this out when checking out (notice on wall). So we paid for 3 adults in a family room when we could have got away with 2 adults in a standard room and saved some money

It was pricey and the room was OK, but dated and shabby in places (e.g. bed base, wonky bedside lamps and obviously a previous owner's dog had been trying to get out of the door and clawed away most of the paint and some of the wood).

Bed was hard, too. But aircon worked fine. Could have done with more milk and coffee and had to ask for a mug for our son to use.

Friendly reception, but not more than you'd expect. Hotel restaurant (where we ate dinner) was quite smart, but restaurant manager was really snooty and unfriendly. No English was spoken and although my schoolgirl French is OK, some of the menu items were difficult to understand which meant my husband and I ordered what we thought was steak and chips but in reality was thinly sliced RAW beef and chips!!!!

Fantastic breakfast, though.

Dinner, bed and breakfast for 3 cost 247.20 Euros which we felt was expensive.
