I stayed here for a week in October 2010. The hotel is well located in the centre of Tours, in a (mostly) quiet street, and it is only about 5 minutes' walk from the station - important as I wanted to visit several places by train during the week.

Madame gave me a warm welcome, and though she only speaks French we managed several conversations while I was there. The room was up a spiral staircase, a reasonable size, with a comfortable double bed and a small shower room. The decor was a bit "tired" but everything was extremely clean.

Breakfasts were good, ample and well-presented in the small breakfast area.

The Hotel des Arts is a centrally located hotel in Tours, very close to the old part of town and the railway station. The room was small, and bathroom very small, but both were comfortable and clean. It is in a quiet location, although you could hear noise from the other hotel rooms, as the walls are quite thin.The hotel was nicely decorated. The stairs up to the rooms were quite steep, so it might be difficult for less able travellers. The room and the breakfast were both reasonably priced, and the hotel staff were helpful. Overall, this was a pleasant budget hotel in a good location for a short stay in the Loire Valley - many of the chateaux are easily reached by train or bus from the station nearby.

Strong points: its architecture (an old house, with apparent bricks), and the location.

Hotel des Arts is more like a B&B than a hotel. It's a great location less than ten minutes walk from the railway and close to the Theatre district. I had a room on the first floor with a queen size bed squeezed into a space that probably would have been better for a large single - great for one person but probably a bit tight for a couple. Not a lot of room for my suitcase. Bathroom was functional and clean though small. The owner who does not speak much english is grqcious and serves a good breakfast. One of the best things about this hotel is that it is two short blocks from Le Rideau Rouge restaurant which is fabulous
