We stayed here for our last night in France on our way up to the coast for the crossing back to UK next day- what a shame to end a wonderful holiday in this way. I have no idea on what basis I chose this place- I can’t believe that it was on reviews- I don’t normally screw up so badly. At least it was just for one night and we just left our luggage, went out to dinner, came back to sleep and checked out without breakfast next morning. It looked and felt like it was built and last decorated in the 1960s- same beds, furniture, bathroom…. The bathroom totally depressed me- large and empty but for a basin and a toilet in two corners and a yellowing tub along one side and a delightful linoleum floor. The shower was a hand-held contraption over the bath and the white tiles at the side of the tub were kept together with more mildew than grout. A strange arrangement- the hotel is inside an apartment building- you need to go up to the first floor first to get to reception and the hotel’s lift. Parking is extra- and they tried to persuade us that it was worthwhile doing so than parking for free on the side street. The young man at the front desk is ever so pleasant and helpful (although he recommended two restaurants that both turned out to be pizza restaurants)- but I’m sorry he just can’t make up for this place.
