What a dump!!

The photographs on the website look very nice and simply show a bedroom, reception and the dining area. However, once you have checked in, you enter through the devils porthole into the real doom and gloom of this VERY rundown hotel. The place has the strong smell of damp, there are wires hanging down, doors have been boarded over, the carpets are FILTHY and the overall feel of the place is of a drop in centre for drunks! The street is noisy, always groups of Africans and Latinos hanging around, talking noisilly into the small hours. We ordered "room service" for the night we were there. We were eventually given four plates of chicken (pink inside) and salad. The owner had to carry each plate up the four flights of stairs herself, she was a large lady, it was hot and the plates were uncovered - suffice to say, that was WASTED MONEY AND WE DID NOT WANT TO EAT THE "FOOD" Breakfast was an interesting experience too, not much on offer and we were presented with little grey trays when we entered the VERY small breakfast room.

It was a real shame as we stayed there on our way down to The Dordogne and had actually booked to stay on the way back up too. However, after staying one night, we decided to cancel the return booking and instead drove teh entire trip back to London from The Dordogne in one go! We would NEVER suggest that our friends (or enemies for that matter) stay at this "hotel."

A nice hotel with an English speaking owner.
Only two star but very comfortable.
Close to the historic centre of Orleans.
I can't fault the hotel or the staff.
It is situated down an old, narrow, street.
My wife and I found it a bit unnerving walking back after dark.
We never saw, or experienced, any trouble, so I think that the danger was perhaps perceived rather than real.
We were there for three nights while we toured the town on foot.
The hotel has it's own secure car park and I would recommend it to the independent traveller.
