Other travellers have already explained what makes this place so lovely. I will just add that I agree and that it is a delightful place in a charming village. Definitely worth the money.

I cannot be certain, but I reckon I’m close, that the Town of Chinon and Hotel Diderot represent exactly what the French are so proud of when they talk of their Loire Valley.

The sweet aftertaste of your jam at breakfast, the warm fireplace of the family room, the secret late night entrance only used by those that know, and the breathtaking views from the most unexpected of places. The only time you will be disappointed will be when it’s that inevitable time to go. And even then, you are sure to be delightfully surprised. The farewells are heartfelt and honest – like Chinon and just like Hotel Diderot.

Embrace it and enjoy it! For its charm and authenticity I would recommend this Hotel over any hotel I have ever stayed at, at any price.

I chose Hotel Diderot based on the experiences of other travellers here on tripadvisor, and I must say the reviews were 100% correct. Great building, warm welcome, really friendly and cosy atmosphere, very clean, delicious jams! A must repeat!

Hotel Diderot was featured in Trip Advisor, so we sought this little cutie out. Madame et Monsieur who own and run the hotel were very accommodating and amiable. Monsieur told us about his own travelling experiences in Australia, much to our delight. Booby, the cat, reviewed visitors as to their worthiness on entree, and if so blessed, one was able to give him a pat. As this is a very old building I think it would be wise to take a room upstairs rather than downstairs as the floor is very creaky, but I am only just guessing as we had a room upstairs. Breakfast was typically French, and yes, an enormous range of preserves were on offer. From a personal point, I would have liked to see tissues available in the room, but that's it.
