First of all, let's get the only gripe out of the way. On arrival, the staff were somewhat surly - a little grumpy. They had tried to call me as we were running late (having traveled for 10 hours on Black Saturday but that's another story) and could not get through to my mobile. This obviously made them upset and they were oddly unfriendly. That out of the way, we got our room key, and the next time we spoke to them they must have remembered we were paying guests and were a little warmer.
So, the room. We had a Superior family room, lovely spacious beds and a great bathroom. The toilet was separate, which is a mixed blessing, but clean, and the air conditioning worked well, even if it was a little noisy.
Drinks were available from reception at reasonable prices, free WiFi was useful and we enjoyed two very peaceful nights. Our room was set away from any street noise. In fact this area of Bourges was quiet throughout, and we had good views of the cathedral and churches.
Breakfasts were usual French affairs, although the coffee out of a machine could have been better. They charged full price for the kids too, which is unusual.
All in all, I would use this hotel again if ever in the area. A good location for a stop over, good price and clean quiet rooms. Checking out and paying saw a return to surly unfriendliness on behalf of the reception staff, but that aside a nice hotel.
