In the centre of Bourges and in the centre of France, this clean, efficient establishment is on my permanent list of half-way points when transiting from the south of France to southern England, or in the other direction. From Hérault to the channel tunnel there are few good options. Clermont-Ferrand is too far south. Paris is too far north. Orleans is not a great option. Verizon not brilliant. Bourges is a good choice. The city itself is prosperous, a centre of the French defense industry. The hotel is well positioned and it is the stroll of a moment to a good choice of restaurants and many decent shops. You can book secure parking. The welcome is friendly and the front of house staff when I was last there, comfortably bilingual. Rooms are immaculate - or at least, the bottom-of-the-range room that I occupied was without real fault. Although in the center, the street itself is quiet. A decent breakfast was available, check-out painless and the access to and from the motorway is simple and rapid. If one is forced to make the tiresome drive from south to north, or north to south, this is a quality choice. It is obviously a little more pricey than the typically more modest establishments that are alternatives.
