the owner and the employees behave a bit like the fashion of the hotel - charming to older people but not to young children. you get the feeling that you are not welcomed with children and if the Price value relation is already limit for adults it is absolutely not acceptable for kids. 12 € for some puree and a microwaved sausage +5€ for a sirop is competely unacceptable. If you want to have a drink in the evening you shuld not be surprised if suddenly you re not served anymore, indicating that bedtime has come.

If you want to get away from it all and have a car, this place is ideal. The gardens are really nice and it's obvious that they expend the resources to make them that way. As others have said, there isn't much around the hotel though. There is a boulangerie and a Tabac for coffee and that's it in Tavers where the hotel is located. Otherwise you need to go into Beaugency (3-4KM) for anything else. We found the service in the hotel to be excellent and responsive. Parking (although tight) was in the courtyard by the garden. They say they can accommodate 5 cars which would be somewhat of a challenge I think. There seems to be adequate parking around the hotel on the street as well and it's a quiet little town. The breakfast is expensive, but pretty good. We ate there one morning and then ate in other towns the rest of our 3 days in the area. It's a great location for exploring Blois and the castles in the Eastern Loire. The hotel was quiet but there weren't many people staying there during the off season. And yes-the church bell is there but with the windows shut it was kind of quaint. I can see where some might complain in the summer if you had to try to sleep with the windows open. FYI. There is a good elevator in the hotel.

A professionally run hotel with a family atmosphere. A central courtyard gives it a 'cosy' feeling. However, the room rate did not include supper or breakfast and one had the feeling that every minor service would be charged for - in the end the price of over 300 Euros for one night for two people was definitely on the 'rich' side.

We had a suite with a remodeled bathroom which was comfortable for 4 of us. Staff very congenial and helpful. We had a fantastic dinner there which was expensive but there weren't many options in Tavers. Located close to Chambord and Blois. Church bells rang early and often.
