Monsieur Gille (pronounced Jeell) and his colleague are very obviously proud of the hotel and the work they do to keep to a very good standard. Neither suffers fools gladly and are very observant, hence their responses to earlier criticisms, which in fact were the reason we decided to stay.There are few hotels, even some five star, that match the cleanliness of this hotel, hense their requirement that meals not be taken into the rooms. They were very helpful and attentive and very informative. AND they are very security conscious. Ambois is a pretty little village and we were fortunate enough to take in the Christmas decorations throughout. The Chocolatier is a must. The grand daughter (perhaps in her later 50s) of the original owner still runs the shop and cafe. She is a lovely woman who made us feel very welcome each time we came in. A restaurant which is a must is La Reserve and you will find reviews on this site as well.

This was a really wonderful experience. It is an elegant mansion in a very special setting just a stone's throw from the chateau and a couple of minutes' walk into the charming center of Amboise. The view from our third floor window (#24) was lovely, as you are on the banks of the Loire, and can see the tower of the chateau. Our room was nicely decorated and comfortable with a queen bed. The bathroom had an extra long tub. Everything was very clean. The parking could not be better - free, secured at night and right in the courtyard. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful with advice. As we do not travel with a laptop, we made good use of the computer in the sitting room for internet access. We enjoyed a drink in the evenings in the salon. There is no elevator, but the beautiful staircase was a pleasure to use and the staff graciously offered to carry up our luggage. We were very pleased with the Patisserie Bigot in the center of town near the base of the ramp to the chateau entrance. You can get anything from a pastry to a full meal for a reasonable price and very pleasant service. We loved their quiches and feuilletés. We highly recommend this manoir.

Le Manoir Les Minimes was a charming and beautiful place to stay.
It was traditionally furnished but had modern comforts.

The location was ideal and just a few minutes to the town.

A very lovely hotel.

Of all the hotels at which we stayed during our two week, fall tour of central to southern France, we found Les Minimes to be our favorite. The hotel is well located, just a few minutes walking distance from the center of town. Parking is free and is conveniently located in the manicured courtyard. The views from our second floor room (#11) are very picturesque. We had a beautiful western view of the courtyard, Chateau Amboise and the Maréchal Leclerc bridge, all highlighted with the setting sun.

Our room was exceptionally clean, with a comfortable queen size bed, fine bedding, and ample closet space. Wireless internet was included with the room fee and access was seamless. The main sitting room is elegantly decorated, and the dining room is comfortable and quiet. We also enjoyed the breakfasts which comprised of excellent croissants, freshly squeezed juices and fresh fruit salad.

The staff was always helpful and went out of their way to research answers to a few of our travel questions. The morning waitress was also pleasant and very attentive.

We highly recommend this hotel and suggest to plan a few days in the region to explore the many chateaus that are within a 100km radius of Amboise
