“charming and central”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

This hotel is a 2 star with 3 star service and amenities. We had an airconditioned quad room which was great for the warm summers in Amboise. Exposed beams added character, though the bathrooms were quite tight, but modern. Well-priced for the location, breakfast good, though somewhat pricey. Thoughtful and helpful owners. Close to all attractions in Amboise. A brisk 20 walk to the train station, and 7 minutes walk to the bus stop(across the street from the theatre) for Chenoceau chateau and cost 1.70 euros, and 5 minute walk to the tourist office.

Room Tip: rooms in the back quiet, unless you have a/c and can shut the windows

“Nice little hotel-- good value”

This hotel is well located, but isn't anything special. It is interesting having been built in 1492, with exposed beams etc., but is not elaborate. Our expectations were not high, but the room was comfortable, with a really good bed and efficient bathroom. It was clean and quiet...what more could you ask for?

“well priced, good atmosphere”

We stayed here in September for a few nights and enjoyed our comfortable room, located in the attic, with ancient exposed oak beams, good linen and a satisfactory small bathroom. The staff are friendly, there is a send out laundry service available ( 5 kilos for 16 euro which saves precious time), and the breakfast is satisfactory. I love older style hotels and this one fitted the bill perfectly, with its lovely beams and winding staircases. Well priced option.

“Great budget hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

After having picked a more expensive hotel originally, we found this and based on the reviews and great price choose it instead. We were not disappointed. The gentleman at the desk was super friendly, spoke English very well, and was very helpful. You are probably a 5 minute walk from the center of town which is quite reasonable. The room was very small and had low hanging beams. The bathroom reminded me of a cabin on a cruise ship. So those who are tall, round about the middle, or claustrophobic shouldn't stay here. However, you really can't beat the price and you're not generally in France for the hotel room. We would certainly stay here again.

“Lovely staff, very average room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

We stayed 2 nights here whilst in Amboise. The location was great the staff were lovely and the gentleman at the front desk spoke good english. Problem was the room. Smallest bathroom we have experienced in our 15 days in France. The shower was tiny, you couldn't get away from the shower curtain, it would try and cling to you whilst you washed, yuk! The room was rather warm (mid September) but when we used the a/c it dripped all night on our son and he woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of drip, drip, drip and a drenched pillow. There was no fridge, tea or coffee which by this time we were getting pretty fed up with. The room was tight for us, 2A & 2C(13,14). Although the price was very good, 170 euro for two nights with parking, it was definitley only worth that and definitely no more. My adivse pay a little more and stay somewhere else. It's a shame as the staff were very helpful, but the accommodation lets them down big time!
