“Recommend ..but avoid this room in summer”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2009

Good location near square and restaurants. Clean rooms and comfortable. Bathroom large though not modern. Our spacious room had large beams and furniture to match in this old coachouse. However, the room was very hot , especially at night, and on the final day we discovered one of the walls over the large fire in the restaurant below was quite warm. Perhaps the chimney! Great in winter...not so in late summer.

“Comfortable stay, excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2009

The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the station, and about the same from the centre of town. The rooms are a little shabby but clean. Our room overlooked the lovely cobbled courtyard, was beamed, had antique furniture, and a very comfortable bed. Some of the other rooms were more spartan. There were no fans so the rooms were quite warm and stuffy at night. The staff were friendly , and breakfast was simple but good quality. Car parking is tricky as the access is narrow, and there isn't much room to manoeuvre. It is a shame there is nowhere to sit out in the courtyard under the vine. However the small square just opposite had plenty of restaurants and cafes.

“Great location and quaint”

Comfortable stay at Hotel du Sauvage which has a lovely courtyard with a great old well. Parked our car in the covered garage that is part of the building. Bathroom was more modern than the bedroom, which was fine, just not very new. Could here people coming and going which kept us up the first night but were fine for second night. Breakfast simple and good. Centrally located near many sights and good eating.

“Historic hostellerie Sauvage”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2007

A historic coaching inn, with an excellent restaurant. If you love good French food, and a warm and welcoming atmosphere at an attractive price, try a night or two at the Sauvage, Dijon.
We have stayed several times, in various rooms. The best are enormous with high beamed ceilings and ancient features.

  • Liked — Historic building and courtyard
  • Disliked — Variety of rooms, all different sizes and shapes!
