“Lovely get-away in the midst of vineyards”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2011

We just got back from this trip spending a long weekend here. This is our second time staying at Le Richebourg and we are happy returning guests. We have lived in Europe for many years and a qualifying 4-star hotel like this isn't easy to find. The hotel is so comfortable, clean, and well-maintained no sign of it being dated since our last visit almost 2 years ago. We had our car so driving to Dijon, Nuits-st-George, Beaune is maximum 15 mins away. Some complained about it being off the "highway" but that's the ONLY relatively bigger road that connects the villages. Plus the hotel is not directly ON it so there's absolutely no annoying disturbance from it. We always request the "vineyard" view which faces the hill with vineyard and also the garden of a lovely farm house run by a lovely elderly couple who does such a great job making the view so pleasant. We find the hotel so soothing and comfortable. More vineyards are accessible simply within 3 minutes of walking distance. The road, the hotel are surrounded by vineyards so i don't agree that it's falsely advertised.
The enclosed parking lot is small so we always reserved early. It's so clean and secure, the space might be small but surely not the parking spots. We feel safe to have parked our vehicle there.
Yes there's only one public computer but MOST even 5-6 star hotels have the same. Besides, there's free wi-fi with high speed if i don't want to roam simply airplane mode with wi-fi i could surf all i want privately on my own phone/ipad etc.
LOVE the air-conditioning too it's functioning great unlike many other 4-stars/ B & B in remote areas like this one. Great modern shower (good water pressure!) with great products from their spa. I didn't try their spa/sauna so i can't comment on that but my husband went and he said it was great (we are also city people who know nice spas). After all we are in the middle of a wine region getting spa treatments wasn't our first priority. We'd rather go outside doing wine tours! and the location of this hotel has made it very easy for us. :)
My only complaint was toilet being in a separate room and we'd have to run across the room to just watch hands after. But having lived in France we know that's very "normal" for traditional French configuration.
Food in this region is amazing... The hotel restaurant does also a great job on local foods and wine. We are very happy with Le Richebourg and have made this place our escape to serenity. We will definitely be back again!

“Nice but questionable value & falls short of they way they sells it online”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2011

Enjoyed it but felt that the way their advertising it was a little dishonest.
Room: there is no iron or ironing board in the room, there is no coffee in the the room, otherwise the rooms are certainly very clean, well maintained. Good size also.
Staff: Really lovely, very helpful.
Brekkie: while lovely it is a shocking 16 Euro per person. Appearance: The ouside is tired and does not exude the kind luriousousness one expects from their advertising.
Jacuzzi – the photos on the website are close but they are not of the jacuzzi as it is now, it also quite small. Still nice. It's just a lot less than you would expect for a hotel that advertises as a 4 / 5 star spa hotel.
Restaurant: Good, they even have a vegetarian option - this is rare in France. The dessert was out of this world! Spa centre located on the 3rd floor, treatments were great and staff were very nice. Value for money is questionable as I think they went a little on the high side.
No fitness room at all!! No swimming pool either. Also very little to do in the area except visit the caves of course.

“You can do better for this price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2010

When I booked our one-stay at Le Richebourg, I had high hopes for a spa set in a lovely country setting surrounding by vineyards. I was so dismayed when we arrived to find that it was actually just barely off the highway, no lush landscape to speak off and a building that looked more like a storage facility than an expensive spa hotel.
Inside the hotel is new and modern and clean. We had a junior suite, so our room was large and the bathroom was fantastic. However, it was in no way worth what we paid. I would have been happier saving 100 Euros and staying in a regular hotel or gasthouse. We poked our head in the sauna; it looked small and crowded. There was a computer with free Internet access. I am sure that you can do better in Dijon/Burgundy.

“Convenient & Comfortable (but it's not in Dijon as listed on TA)”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2010

The Richebourg is an easy find, not too far from Dijon, not too far from Beaune, set just off the highway; a good choice if you’re spending most of your time in the car village or vineyard-hopping. It’is modern, the rooms spacious, the bathroom very large (two sinks, separate bath and shower), has a pleasant bar and restaurant area, and an OK sauna room. Free (and fast) wifi. The dinner we took there was very good, not as spectacular as some Beaune restaurants, but no complaints. Yet, although our stay wasn’t marred by any problems with staff or service, I would fault the hotel a little bit. The beds were, how shall I put it?, very well slept in. For an inn of this calibre they simply need to be updated; ours had distinguishable dents and my back suffered, each night rolling into the “groove” as I termed it. Second, there were three hardback chairs in the room, none of them suitable for comfortable lounging, reading or surfing. Finally, there was no free beverage: No tea or coffee maker or kettle or even small bottle of water at turn down. I don’t think a kettle and free tea bags are a “luxury”; they really should be expected. But apart from those quibbles everything was OK.

“Wonderful Surprise in Burgundy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2010

We arrived here after spending eight nights at the high-end Hotel Arts (Ritz Carlton) in Barcelona and a fabulous mas (bed and breakfast) in Provence. We were only staying here for one night on our way driving from Provence to Paris. Although everything looked great on the hotel's website when I booked it, I expected a sort of better-than-average chain-style business hotel. We could not have been more pleasantly surprised. First, the location is excellent. The hotel is perfectly situated on the main drag in Vosne Romanee about halfway between Dijon and Beaune, which makes it perfect for anyone who wants to explore some of the best appellations Burgundy has to offer. We had two rooms, a large two-room suite for us with our kids, and another standard room for my parents. The rooms are very nice, clean and modern, and the beds were very comfortable. We got there a bit late (after dinner), so we ordered room service...again, we had rather low expectations, but the dinner was great! My father said the pate was especially good. The staff at the front desk were very accomodating and helpful, both that evening and the next morning. The hotel has underground parking (which is nice and safe, but the spots were a bit tight for my Renault minivan). It was nice to be able to leave things in the car without fear of having things stolen.

Overall, we had a great stay, albeit too short, and we will definitely be back here again. Although this doesn't have the charm of a 100-year old mas, it is very comfortable and a great base of operations for exploring Burgundy. I hear the spa is great, but we didn't use its services this time.
