“Lovely.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2010

This hotel is an older property , is situated in an ideal spot and is charming.
We were greeted firstly by a woman who , smiling went and found an English speaking man , ( so much for my french!)who was extremely helpful at check in.
Our room although dated was better than I expected for the price, very clean and we had no complaints.
The hotel has a lovely restaurant situated at the back of a charming garden where we spend an evening drinking wine!
Next time we're in the lovely Dijon we'l stay there again.

“Subpar accommodation in a good location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2010

The hotel is part of the Exclusive Hotels network, but I didn't find anything exclusive about it, except for the on-site restaurant (which had 3-digit prices for menus including wine pairing) and the named rooms - all rooms are named after French noblemen/noblewomen. The rooms were dated and they reeked of spoiled cheese odor (probably from the carpet). The rooms were cleaned every day, but the smell nonetheless stayed. The furniture is cheap 70s style, with cheap-looking light fixtures. Not exclusive, if you ask me. Beds were just OK, not terribly comfortable. It was really hot when we visited Dijon, so it was good that the A/C was working. Wifi is free and parking is right across the street.

“Less than expected, very poor breakfast for the charge”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2010

Booked this from list of hotels in wedding invite (listed under "tres chic"). Room was small, although separate loo and shower was a bonus. Bed was average, overly soft pillows - I've had much better night's sleep. Buffet breakfast was the low point at €13 each - it was a poor affair (especially for France), pathetic mini-croissants and p-au-cs, poor service-I had to ask for a coffee - after 10mins. The one member of staff appeared unable to have more than a few items on the buffet table at a time meaning they constantly ran out of bread, juice etc. Ate at the Bar "des oenophiles", which is part of the hotel. Food was pretentious (but nothing special) and the cocktails were overpriced at €12 - with no ice. If you want a good meal in Dijon, go to Le Sauvage, as for hotels we've tried 2 and they were both poor. PS If you think I'm one of those negative people, check out my Hotel Campanile Laon review.

“Great little hotel, free WIFI”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 April 2010

Reading some of the previous reviews, I think you'll find some changes have been made since those visits. The rooms are all very clean and seem to have new-ish carpets. The breakfast area also seems to have had an entire revamp as it is no longer a "dungeon" but a very bright and pleasant room, with modern and funky light fittings as well as art works on the walls. The breakfast itself is one of the best I've had in France. All the usual suspects were lined up; cereals, breads, croissants, jams, sliced cheese and cold meats etc, and then there were the little surprises; sliced bread and a toaster, cheese rounds that you could slice off yourselt and the winner for me, eggs. A big pot of creamy scrambled eggs, or in their natural state for you to pop into the boiler. And a nice touch is that you order your cafe/tea on arrival, and it comes out to you in a little pot with a pot of hot milk.

And as the title mentions FREE WIFI.

Location-wise, it was handy to everywhere. I travelled with a very heavy suitcase so caught a cab from the train station, costing 6Euro. As I did not have a car and hoofed it all over town and found the hotel to be well placed. Found some wonderful little eateries nearby too, and of course the restaurant at the back of the hotel is magnificent (pricey, but fantastic service and good for a special night out).

Service was always helpful and friendly, with everyone i encountered speaking excellent English. I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay here again if I'm ever back this way.

“Hotel Philippe le Bon is a keeper.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2010

This hotel is in the old part of the city, with a free public bus just across the street. Our room was comfortable, not huge but adequate. Staff were helpful and friendly. There is an excellent restaurant attached at the back of the garden (Oenophiles). I will definitely stay here on my next trip to Dijon.
