My wife and I literally walked out of this hotel within an hour of checking in. We knew from the reviews that it was old fashioned but decided to take the risk. Everything about our experience was bad save for the fact that the hotel had wi-fi which allowed us to identify another hotel. Having visited that one to our satisfaction we paid for that night at Le Jacquemart and moved out. Why? First, the hotel is decrepit and close to non-functional. Having hauled our suitcase up a back breaking staircase to our "superior" room, we found it was made up of three small rooms, one being a 19th century bathroom, the second a pointless foyer, all three in urgent need of renovation. The actual bedroom smelt, the bed was lumpy, and - indicative of the hotel's problems - the light bulbs were the lowest wattage you can buy. When both arriving and leaving the front desk had nobody in attendance. On Sunday, when we walked past the hotel, we noticed the front door was locked. And we also noted that the hotel has been downgraded from three to two star, which is a generous evaluation. Fortunately, the rest of our stay in Lyons was excellent.
