This place is amazing - beautiful inside & out and so close to the old town Beaune (within walking distance). This place is a gem and well worth the cost!!

Room Tip: Stay here if you want to have great access to old town and stay in a phenomenal place!

“Stay marred by a dreadful breakast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

We stayed at Hostellerie Le Cedre for one night as part of a tour group. What a mixed stay we experienced!

The location of the hotel is good ... within walking distance of the old walled town, town centre and famous Hotel Dieu.

The rooms were quite nice though a very tiny toilet was a little odd.

We had an exceptional dinner at the hotel .... easily the best I have experienced in a tour group situation.

Sadly, we were brought back to earth in a big way the next morning at breakfast. The worst breakfast I have experienced at any hotel anywhere in the world.

What was wrong? ... the list is lengthy but included ....

- breakfast was due to commence at 7.00 for our tour group (2 bus loads totalling 50+) ... we arrived at 7.05 to find very little left!
- there was no hot food left ... and this wasn't replenished
- a number of the cold items were also quickly exhausted and not replenished
- there were no plates left
- my wife waited for 15 minutes for milk for coffee

- there was just one wait person for 50+ people

“3 Star at best.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

Generally overpriced and very tired.
Our third floor room was at the back with a not unpleasant view to the hills.
However the room, although clean and tidy, was showing obvious signs of wear and tear.
Part of toilet seat was unsecured."Writing desk" was extremely unstable.TV cabinet door detached from hinges.
On the positive side staff were extremely pleasant.
We would expect more from a hotel charging 225 euros than to be expected to pay an additional 14 euros a night for parking and 10 euros for a glass of vin ordinaire at the bar.
We were not tempted by the 75 euro prix fixe in the restaurant.

Dear Madam, dear Sir,

Further to your comment, we first thank you for taking the time to write your impressions about your stay at the Hostellerie le Cèdre. Your opinion is useful for us in order to always keep improving the quality of our service by understanding your disappointment.

Our hotel is regularly subject to renovation, which unfortunately doesn't occure as fast as we would like since we have to wait for the short low season to move on with any refurbishment work each year. after checking your room, it appears that the TV cabinet door may just look like it gets detached from the hinges, however it is the normal move of the door as it widely opens at first and then disappears into the cabinet at second, making a "clic" inbetween.

Located in town, we can only provide a limited number of car spaces in our private garage. We can understand that you might be surprised to have to pay for a hotel car space. However, a supplement of 14€ for this extra service lies underneath the average price usually charged by hotels for private parking.

We feel sorry that our wine selection didn't meet your taste and expectations. To us, the wine served by the glass at the hotel bar is far from being an ordinary wine as we propose either a Chablis 1er Cru or a Chassagne-Montrachet. The price is set accordingly.

If we indeed propose a gourmet Menu at 75€, you obviously missed the 48€ Menu served in 4 courses with a choice between 2 starters, 2 main courses and 2 desserts, as well as a child's menu at 15€. Also, our service à-la-carte offers a range of prices from 25€ to 48€. Our Chef who got his talent by working in 1 and 2 Michelin star restaurants, proposes a fine French cuisine that is respectful of the product.

We are glad you appreciate the friendliness of our staff and the cleanliness of your room, as we put the emphasis on both aspects of our services.

Again, we sincerely thank you for your opinion and remain,

With our best regards.

Raphaël MEYER

“Lovely Respite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

Our group of seven was warmly welcomed at this charming hotel just outside the town of Beaune. My room was clean, bright, cheerful and quiet. The lobby was perfect for pre-dinner gathering and the resturant was outstanding. It was a pleasant stop for our group between Paris and Provence. I would definitely stay there again.
