We arrived early as the floor was being cleaned- (don't walk on the floor!) The staff did allow us to leave our bags and return for check in at 2. Although our bags were parked in front of an elevator, when we checked in, the desk informed us we were on the 3rd floor and pointed the way to the stairs. Lugging bags up 3 flights of stairs was the biggest downside for us. The staff was very friendly (especially since I spoke a little French), our room was bigger than I thought it would be, the bathroom was also fairly spacious, although it is a bath tub with spray attachment and no curtain (so easy to get the floor pretty wet). There was a high school tour group that made a lot of noise until about midnight on the first night we were there. The second night was quiet.
The breakfast was excellent- really flaky, buttery croissants and good baguettes with butter and jam. They even had American style coffee and orange juice. The bakery right next door was also great if you want to pick up a baguette or other treats for a picnic.

Service:
Very ordinary indeed. Not rude but nothing to speak of.

Room:
Relatively clean, basic, requires modernisation. Room on the small side even though there is very little furniture in it.
It took a while to find a power socket too. There is the obvious one for the TV, which is at the top of the wall right under the ceiling, so not ideally located. But there is another one right next to the entry door.
The rooms have metal shutters on the windows which very annoyingly rattle in the wind.
Showering and toilet flushing can be heard very loudly from the rooms above.

Bathroom:
Relatively clean, basic. The waste pipe from the sink leaked in our room leaving a pool of water on the floor. Shower head in a bath but no shower curtain.

Location:
2 mins walk into the town centre so very well located. A few steps outside of the one-way circular road that runs around the outside of Beaune town centre.
Also only 3 mins walk from the Office of Tourism.

Additional:
We only stayed here after the hotel we actually booked made a mistake with our reservation and had to find another bed for the night for us. I would not recommend this hotel at all to anyone. It really only has the location on its side.
There is a gated car park at the back of the hotel next to the rooms. At €4 for 24 hours this is good especially since you can leave the car in there even after you have checked out and want to walk around the town.
Wifi is available in reception only and is chargeable, but we found it seemed to be chargeable anywhere in Beaune town centre.

We booked a room well in advance for a one night stop-over in August 2008 as we were travelling back from South France by car. 2 Adults and 1 Child.

Easy to find (thanks to Sat-Nav) - but wouldn't have been a problem anyway as the building is well-signed. A very helpful (and english-speaking) reception, large secure car park within a large enclosed area.

Hotel within 2 minutes walking distance from the town centre - which in turn was packed with quality restaurants, a different one around each corner.

Room was very clean and spacious. We had two double-beds (more like king-size beds) on the third floor overlooking the main road outside. Bathroom was also clean and spacious with a bath and shower together.

During the night there was a lot of noise coming from the road outside. Noisy cars and lorries, but between 2-4am there seemed to be lots of drunk young people congregating at the sqaure 50 yards down the road from the hotel. With shouting, revving motorbikes/mopeds/cars, and beer cans being kicked up the street - it wasn't the best nights' sleep that we've had.

Nevertheless, the smell of freshly cooked breads and croissants was enough to get us out of bed for 8am and down for breakfast. A large basket of baguette, pain of chocolat and croissants with jams, plus tea, coffee and orange juice. Plenty to go round and very nice.

All in all, would recommend a stay at this hotel, just keep the windows closed and don't go on a Saturday night!

Walls were paper thin and the beds were too soft (and I'm no Goldilocks). However, the staff was friendly, the room was clean and had adequate amenities. We were lucky to find a room at all, since most of the town's hotel rooms were taken or had rates through the roof. All in all, for the price, the room was quite adequate.
