After trying a number of other more expensive hotels, some with no parking we stumbled upon the Grand Saint John. On first appearances it didn't appear the most inviting but the rates were reasonable and the reception staff very helpful and spoke good English. The hotel has very secure off street parking, the rooms were large, recently refurbished and although not luxurious they were welcoming and comfortable. The location is superb with easy walking distance to the centre of Beaune (three minutes) passing a large number of lovely shops, restaurants and wine merchants. Didn't try the buffet breakfast as wanted to sample Beaune in the sunshine. Hotel staff all really helpful, the free wifi needs a username and password which they give you very willingly and it works really well.
Don't be put off by the exterior this hotel does everything you need a hotel to do and saves you some money to spend in Beaune (something that is really easy to do!)
Probably better for a short stay (1/2 nights) but very central and has easy access by car.

Simple, effective, great parking, nice rooms, friendly service. Well worth an overnight stop, good breakfast and easy walking distance to town centre.

An easy walk from the train station and convenient to all tourist-y things. Apparently recently renovated, a good elevator and bigger than average bathroom with modern fixtures. Decent sized room, nicely decorated and clean. Most delightful were the front desk personnel who spoke English well and were helpful. Without boring you with details, I must emphasize that they went "above and beyond" to provide excellent service. Also, pleasant about luggage storage and tourist-y assistance.
This hotel was one of the best values and lodging experiences of a one month Europe vacation. (For comparison purposes, we are somewhere between budget and frivolous travelers.) We did not choose the breakfast, so cannot comment. There seemed to be ample gated parking (sometimes an issue with older hotels in smaller towns). The Internet signal did not reach to our room, so if this is important, ask for a room close to a router.
Make sure you see the evening light shows in Beaune, bike through the vineyards, and visit La Cave De L'Ange Gardien for a very personal wine-tasting experience.

Yes, honey, there's no shower curtain at the tub! So every time after a shower, we were succumbed to a self-guilt of having wet much of the bathroom. Being a conscientious person, we had to spend time mopping the floor afterward. The funny thing is that the rooms in this hotel are newly renovated, with sunny yellow color scheme on the walls, curtains and bedding. Yet, no one thought about spending a few euros to put in a shower curtain. Oh by the way, the shower head is not mounted on anything except on your own hand while using it. Are we supposed to take a real soaking bath instead (not an American tradition)?

Other than the above nuisance, the hotel is quite OK. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The room is quite spacious. The 10-inch tube TV is quite nostalgic. The hotel is located just outside the old town (5 min away), being close to the tourist office, local stores and eateries. It is about 15 min walk from the train station. The access to the hotel looks like an American motel, without any grand entrance to write home about. The free wifi has a new password everyday. For 65 euros per day, the hotel is a best value.

We saw a couple traveling with a huge dog checked into the room next to ours. I wonder how do the staff clean that room afterward? I don't recall seeing any warning that a room might be inhabited by a furred occupant before (and hence watch out for allergic reaction).
