“A comfortable base for Beaune vineyard visits or a stopping off point”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

This is a well appointed hotel with private, secure outside parking (and plenty of it). It is not in the heart of town and would suit those travellers with a car or willing to pay for the short cab trip. It is convenient for the motorway network and Route Nationale and is close to a large hypermarket, as well as visiting the special places of interest for the wine buffs (the hotel has comprehensive tourist info packs). The hotel has a cosy bar area and a spacious and airy restaurant. We were there in the winter but I could imagine that it would be very pleasant to enjoy a meal whilst watching the kids swimming in the pool directly outside the restaurant area. The hotel decoration is stylish and new and the staff members were all friendly. The reception staff were happy to speak in French or English. Above all we appreciated the fact that having told them we would be very late arrivals, they communicated with us in advance of our arrival to ensure that two very nice salads were prepared and reserved for us. The chef and the waiting staff, as well as the reception manager all deserve special applause. You get what you pay for with the Accor chain and, if you feel able to treat yourselves, this hotel is towards the top of the Accor range.

Room Tip: Away from the lifts and a high floor

“Quite good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011

We were on a stopover from Dijon to Geneva, apart from the Carrefour supermarket next to it, nothing really interesting nearby places in this small town. Free internet though... Good breakfast with nice front desk staff.

“Decent hotel, but not in the "centre" of Beaune”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

We came here on holiday with a family, and took the train instead of a car. I've been to Beaune before and, as long as you're staying in the middle of town, a car is more hassle than help--you can walk most everywhere. We chose the hotel because we wanted something economical in the middle of town, we've generally had good luck with Mercure, and it had "Beaune Centre" in the name. My mistake for not checking further.

We had no objections to the hotel itself--it's a basic, clean place to sleep. Rooms are small, and the decor is dated, but it was what we expected. However, the only thing it's central to is a Carrefour and a handful of strip-mall restaurants. What most vacationers would think of as the "centre" of Beaune is over two kilometers up the road.

In short, it's not a bad hotel, but don't set your expectations for its location too high.

“Wine Auction and Festival 2011”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Always a highlight of the year - 3 days in November to sample wine, food and everything French. Hotel perfectly situated for the visit to the town with its street markets, processions and culinary delights plus, of course the unique spectacle of the auctions. The staff, as ever were helpful and the rooms clean and comfortable.
We'll be back next year.

“Great location but needs updating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

This Mercure is a welcome stopover to and from the south. Its location is excellent and the secure car park is a major asset when your vehicle is fully laden. The rooms are smallish but adequate (I'll try a Prestige Room next time - thanks mec50) and bathrooms are good. The reception staff were particularly welcoming and friendly, which has not always been the case in previous years. In summary it's all adequate, but desperately needs updating with new carpets and wall paper which isn't peeling. Essential tip: if you are over 60 breakfast is FREE. You have to ask for it (at reception on checking out) as you won't be advised of this excellent benefit.

Room Tip: East side (back) = morning sun and some noise from the nearby train line. West side (front) = more...
