Location is terrific, short block from marketplace, Hotel Dieu and Marche aux Vins. However, when we were there in July, there was major road construction going on in front of the hotel and we were woken up before 8:00 a.m. each morning to heavy machinery noise. There is a loading zone in front of the hotel for you to load/unload baggage but then you have to park the car at the free parking lot at the ring road entrance to Avenue de la Republique (5 min. away). Free WiFi is available at the hotel but it was often slow and seemed to turn off by 11:00 p.m. each night when the reception desk closed. Our superior room was comfortable, air conditioned, and the bathroom was modern and large. A few suggestions for the hotel that we believe are relatively inexpensive to implement: (1) the hotel needs to invest in a shower curtain as there was no enclosure. In addition, the shower head placement was abnormally high, making it quite dangerous for us to stand on our toes to adjust the shower head to minimize water splashing outside of the bathtub (2) A mini bar fridge would have been helpful to store the wonderful charcuterie, bottles of rose, and water that we purchased (3) the hotel would benefit from an internet booster and (4) the hotel should subscribe to at least one English language channel. Would we stay there again - probably because the location was hard to beat.

I was worried about our standard room booking at Hotel Athanor, Beaune after reading other reviews about it being too hot. I really need not have worried. The room was small but very cute - full wooden ceiling and very comfy bed. It was amusing rather than inconvieniant that the door to the bathroom gets slightly caught on the bed! The bathroom must have been recently re-done as was spotless. The lack of a shower curtain was weird, If we were staying for more than one night I'd be annoyed about the shower:- it's not great as the head either needs replacing or descaling. The water doesn't gush out but neither does it trickle so I am being a bit picky for the price we paid (£72 p\n). I'd recommend and would come back to stay here if we are passing through Beaune again.

We had a nice one night stay in the hotel. Very good breakfast, with types of bread and cheese. Cute and well decorated.

This hotel seemed to be brand new, but the desk was disorganized and didn’t have a record of my reservation. It took them some time, but when I produced a copy of my reservation they found me a room. The hotel was clean and fine. There was plenty of parking at municipal lots on the edge of the ‘downtown’ area. I didn’t care for the ‘old town’ part of Beaune- it felt inauthentic, touristy, and expensive. The surrounding area of Burgundy is beautiful. The Abbey Fontenay, north of Beaune, is a very interesting and a great side trip.
