We stayed in a family room with our two young Grandchildren, en Route, from our home in the South of France. The room was adequate but the children were both in a double sofa bed which was not ideal but OK for one night.
The hotel itself is clean ,pleasant, well furnished but in places needs updating. I would assume that the owners are undertaking an on going refurbishment programme as some areas are fine and others quite jaded. The ambience, friendliness and general appeal are fine and the gardens are worth wandering around if you have 15 minutes of spare time.
The 'Dining' experience must surely rate as unique !! We asked at Reception if we could book a table for Dinner but we were advised that there was no restaurant. Having said that, we were offered the Dining menu that we could choose from and given the opportunity to eat the meal in either our Room or on the Terrace Tables or in the Dining Room. We chose and asked if the meals could be served on the terrace at about 8.00 pm. We were told that the timing was dependent on how long it would take to fulfill other orders so the Reception would call us in our room just before the meal was ready to be served.
When we arrived at the terrace the metal tables were unprepared and a young 'Waitress' attempted to prepare the table but forgot about a table cloth or seat pads so we sat on hard metal seats and eat from a bare metal table. The supervisor pointed out the error to the 'Trainee' waitress and the subsequent arrivals at the adjacent Table had a cloth and seat pads ! The food was re heated- ready prepared microwave meals and was ok but not really French Cuisine. There was a German couple who sat them selves down at another adjacent table, but since they were unaware of the 'Pre Order at Reception' scenario they simply sat there for almost an hour trying to attract the attention of the 'Trainee Waitress' untill the left presumably in disgust.
With a bit more organisation on the food side of things this hotel would rate 7/10 but as it stands it would only score 5/10. The Breakfast Buffet was fair to good but nothing special.
The only real highlight of the stay was that the plumbing exceeded all expectations of a French Hotel. The Shower was hot and powerfull, the pop up wastes in the sinks didn't let the water out before one has finished shaving and the loo worked efficiently.
Would we return ?? Maybe, probably not.
