We drove to Autun - in central Burgundy - to see the end of one of the Tour de France stages. It's a beautiful town with alot of history including some roman ruins. All accommodation booked out, but we saw this hotel in a brochure. Called them up and got the last room. Very charming and a quaint location about 14kms out of Autun. Very cheap accommodation - i think about 59€ for the two of us. Hotel has been recently refurbished and is clean and comfortable. You can get b&b or half board which includes dinner (four courses I think) although you can get a la carte. My coqille st jacques were divine!!! Run by a dutch couple who speak french, german, english and dutch of course. it's about a 3.5 hour drive from Paris.
