“Comfortable Hotel in St Malo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2011

We just returned from a 15 day trip to Fance cruising the Seine River: Paris to Honfleur with Grand Circle Travel. We stayed at this hotel for three days with our extension to Brittany. My husband, his brother and wife were given two adjoining suites called the Family Suite. They had a huge bathroom with a walk-in shower, a large sleeping area and a small sitting area that adjoned to ours. We had the smaller room with a sitting area and a smaller bathroom with a tub and hand held shower, which my husband found difficult to use...he is 6' 6". We had a private entrance that opened to the courtyard.
The nearby construction seems to be at a standstill...most of the locals are on vacation.

Hotel is near a supermarket, pharmacy, baker and wonderful charcucharie (?)...pork store that sells prepared foods, wine and cheeses that can be purchased for a picnic or stay in the room meal. There are several small local bistros that are resonably priced serving good food from a limited menu. You cxan venture down the main drag a bit further for a more varied selection of restaurants and bistros or cab it into the old city for some interesting eating.
There was a pool that other guests enjoyed. Had dinner at the hotel one night, it was okay.

“NOISY BUILDING WORK”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2011

Dont go! There is building work going on on two properties that directly overlook the hotel and its garden. They start at 8am and continue all day. This will be going on until at least the end of this year. We complained but they just shrugged their shoulders. We paid E360 for two nights for room only and upon complaining there was no offer of a discount for the disturbance. We suggested that they put a note on their website about the noise, but I doubt very much if this will happen as nobody will book it if they did. The room we had was large with a small balcony (directly facing the builders) but it is all looking a bit faded and old. It needs updating. There was something sticky on the carpet and the tied floor in the toilet had become so impregnated with urine over the years that it had an unpleasant aroma. Comfortable bed. This is all rather ironic as the hotel is part of the 'Relais du SILENCE' group!!

“Wonderful staff, good location and facilities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2011

Delayed by bad weather and traffic in paris, we arrived very late to Saint-Malo. Staff was super helpful even at a late hour. Hotel is a little tricky to find in the dark, but well worth it. Staff is cheerful and knowledgeable and hospitable. Rooms were clean and nicely appointed, especially good for a family.

“JUST FANTASTIC”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 March 2011

I come 2/3 times/year in Saint Malo for 10 years, and each time I stay at the hotel of courtoisville.
I have never been desapointed by the quality of the service, by the room, by the dinner. All is perfect.
It's a fantastic place to stay, for business or tourism. I hope to come back for next 10 years.

“Smart hotel with nice indoor pool”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2010

We stayed here for 2 nights at the start of a week-long break in Brittany. On arrival, we were slightly disappointed that the advertised car park was only available on a first-come, first-served basis and was full. However, this wasn't a problem as there is plenty of parking space on the surrounding roads and security doesn't seem to be an issue.

On check-in, we were shown to our room by a friendly English-speaking receptionist. The room was spacious and well-appointed. We also really liked the swimming pool, which was clean and warm. We decided not to have breakfast at the hotel, instead following the useful recommendation of one of the other reviews on here and going to the pattisery just around the corner, which does excellent pain-au-chocolats!

The location of the hotel is great if you have a car and therefore don't wish to go to one of the hotels in the walled city (which is closed off to traffic in the summer months). And the walk along the sea front to get to the walled city (about 20 mins) is very enjoyable as long as it's not too windy!

Overall, an enjoyable stay at a reasonable price.
