The reception, the room, the breakfast room, the location all very quiet. The staff discrete, the bar area dead. The room big but soulless, bed comfortable - chairs like 1890 wooden stuffed with horsehair, and build for a 30kg jockey. Wirleless internet OK, showers in Bath, mixer ensured its either too hot or too cold, Towels too small,

all in all a soulless it acceptable place for one night or two max

This hotel is like the Marie Celeste. Do not be fooled by the photos, yes the reception s enormous but it and the bar are staffed by the same person! The rooms are a reasonable size but fixtures and fittings are worn. There is no restaurant so again don't believe the photos. It only serves breakfast which I have yet to experience....
Needless to say I won't be returning to Le Continental and you should think again if you are considering staying here. I can't believe there aren't several better hotels hotels in town for the same or indeed less.

After a week sailing we booked a junior suite at the Continental, hoping for a good bed and a good shower - we weren't disappointed. The suite was a very reasonable 102 euros - very spacious, terrace with table and chairs, writing desk, comfy sofa, flat screen tv in the room. Good views across to the Rade and the town. The breakfast was also good - plenty of choice.

I think I've read comments about the lack of hot water and we certainly had to remember to run the shower for a good 5 minutes before venturing in but that's the only slight niggle and it wouldn't put me off returning.

We stayed here for two nights towards the end of August 2008 and found Brest to be quiet. Quite exceptionally quiet being the period of conges annuelle. Reception was cool, indifferent and charmless. Why should customers have to make all the running, when it is us who is paying the bill?

The stench of cold stale tobacco is not really acceptable in a bedroom in these days of strictly enforced no smoking policies. (I am not the first Trip Advisor reader to comment adversely on this.) The balcony was dirty and the sliding windows very dificult to move.

Inexcusable was the fact that by 1515 hrs on our second day here our room had not been 'done'. On complaining to reception a reluctant staff member offered no apology or explanation.

Breakfast is good and the art deco lobby is a delight to behold.
