“Historic character with gracious staff”

This is a spacious and elegant building. Parts of the public areas seem neglected and in need of updating or refurnishing but the overall atmosphere is good. There is a beautiful marble staircase that we used instead of the elevator. The front desk staff were very helpful at all times. We stayed for 4 nights. There is a hotel safe available as well as a room set aside for business use with WiFi access. Our room was large and comfortable. The bathroom was also large and pretty with a separate toilet room. Hot water required patience. It eventually showed up after a few minutes of letting the water run. We enjoyed the breakfast which was abundant. The kitchen would also cook to order and brewed decaf was served. We attempted to eat in the hotel dinner one evening but the servers seemed to be ignoring us so we left. It must have been a bad night for them. I would recommend this hotel for it's elegant and spacious atmosphere and the good central location.

“Elegant,Charming and Historic”

This is a great hotel - particularly if you're a sophisticated traveler. It doesn't have every modern amenity, but that's its charm. The hotel retains its original facade and lobby. The rooms were renovated a few years ago and they're huge and beautiful, yet still old France. My family has spent time in this hotel over a period of forty years (my mother began to visit in the late 60's) and although it has changed ownership several times, it has retained its integrity. If you want the true Vichy experience, this is the place to stay. I understand very well the history of Vichy and although, in one's head, it can be a little scary, the city is fascinating (and beautiful).

“Comfortable and excellent room.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2007

Comfortable hotel - not a patch on the Sofitel though but you get what you pay for.
Room was spotlessly clean. Staff rather lackadaisical and guests must have some knowledge of French to get by in the city and indeed the hotel. Shame that the pool area was closed on a very hot Sunday when a relaxing afternoon in the Sun would have been ideal relaxation

“A good bet”

We liked this hotel. Not 5 star but good value. We had a spacious room with a balcony looking out over the pool. There is limited parking outside the hotel but I found a place easily about 100 yards away. There are two elevators - one of which looks original 1920's or 30's. The breakfast buffet next morning was very good indeed - especially for a French hotel where breakfasts tend to be pretty spartan. The Brasserie du Casino across the street is really excellent, by the way!
