I chose the hotel from a list, although I had stayed at Centre Ville one year ago and was disappointed. However, the photos looked good and I imagined it couldn't be worse. Well....

I don't know where these photos were taken (probably in the only suite they have). The rooms are tiny and clean enough. What surprised me was the management's decision to block the windows in some rooms. So, you only have air conditioning and a heavy smell (if you can stand any of them). When I asked the window to be opened, the receptionist looked at me as if I had two heads and explained to me that it was for my own safety, so that I am not tempted to throw myself out of the window. I had to give a written declaration the second day and they changed the room. But the situation was handled in a very impolite and stiff manner.
Second annoying thing was that the rooms are not isolated, so you hear every step of the other guests on the hall, water running in other bathrooms and so on.
The staff is overall correct, but not at all welcoming.

On the positive side, the hotel is pretty well located, in a central, quiet and safe area.
The breakfast is good enough, not very rich, mostly cold food.
As for the rates, you can do definitely better...

I would not recommend this hotel to any of my friends or colleagues, as you can find lots of better places to stay in Clermont-Ferrand.

Had high hopes for this after an excellent nights stay at the Kyriad at Mulsanne, Le Mans. The 'Prestige' title is supposed to indicate this one of the chain's best hotels. What we have here is an okay hotel in a decent, central city location; in urgent need of a make over. The colour scheme in the halls (yellow, orange and purple since you ask) looks like it has been there since the 70's. The rooms are all right - clean, if a little faded. The bath was very small; particularly if you are a tall chap like myself. The reception staff and breakfast waitress were pleasant; and the hotel has secure parking (at a price) in the basement. I still can't work out how B&B here cost us more than half-board with the same chain a couple of 200km up the road.

I was very disappointed with the hotel after the pictures and the feedback of locals was so great.

On arrival, I checked in; was given my keys. Not asked whether or not I wanted a wake up call, newspaper or any assistance with my luggage! I was not even given any directions to my room! Most annoying!

I had to request a wake up call on the Wednesday morning and I got my colleague to ask who speaks french for a wake up call at 7am - it woke me up at 6am!

There were limited staff on duty through out the day; and at times waited approx 10 minutes to be served both at Reception and at the Bar! When I was awaiting at the bar for about 15 minutes one time; I asked the young lady at Reception for a drink. She huffed and puffed - and greeted me with a 'what do you want'. I asked her for a glass of sauvignon blanc and she gave me rose; when I said that was incorrect; she puired the correct one and chucked it at me! Not very good!

There was a young gentleman who worked in the Restaurant, an older lady on Reception and the Night Porter - all these were fantastic; spoke English, had a laugh - it was good, but they were let down by the conduct of other members of staff.

I arrived back late on Wednesday evening from my business meeting and asked the person behind Reception for a Jack Daniels and Coke; he said that the bar is closed and that he can't serve me because he didnt have the keys; despite previously being served the night before! He was very rude, his uniform was scruffy and could not speak English!

I had the impression that I was doing them a favour in staying there and they often forgot who the guests actusally were!! I don't think they like English at all.

The room was small; but was very clean (best part of the hotel!). How ever on arrival, there were several power sockets which did not work. When reporting this to Reception; it took 2 days to fix!

I am a hotel Manager of a luxury property in England and I may be picky but after the big hype of the fantastic French service, I was bitterly disappointed!

I will not recommend.

Staff were rude and unfriendly, including the Manager who clearly felt he was doing us a favour by allowing us to stay in his hotel. I will never use this chain again.
