I arrived late at night for a 3 night stay & was allocated room 6 on the ground floor, at first glance I thought it was OK, the room was large & looked clean & tidy, however problems arose by morning. The heating control did not work, the room was very hot & when the window was opened it was very noisy, also I did not want to leave the window open being in a ground floor room. I was then woken by cleaning staff & workmen very early, who were operating out of a storage room opposite, the corridoor outside was also very noisy & you could also hear noise from the bar area which was very close.
In the morning I woke to a faint, but persistant, smell of sewage which again necessitated the opening of the noisy window.
The bathroom only had one of those hand held shower units over the bath, very impractical to shower with under any circumstances, but when I went to use it & pulled up the knob to change the water flow from bath to shower the knob came away in my hand. The shower curtain rail was also coming away from the wall.
I went to reception & asked if I could be moved to another room due, mainly, to the noise which I did not want to suffer for the next 2 nights also, the receptionist was very helpful, she did not show any surprise about my complaint so I suspect it must be a common one, & within 1 hour they had allocated me a different roon on the third floor which was excellent in every way & I subsequently enjoyed the rest of my stay.
Oddly, I was travelling with a colleague for the same business meeting who checked in at the same time as me, in fact I got my room about 30 seconds before he did & he was automatically allocated one of the refurbished rooms on the 3rd floor, how is this logical.
All the other facilities of the hotel, restaurant, breakfast, bar, meeting rooms etc were excellent & the location near the airport was very good.
