We arrived in Saint Jean de Luz early in the morning and headed straight to the hotel hoping for an early check-in. They were full but were very kind in expediting the cleaning of a room as soon as it became available. This was 9:30 in the morning! We really appreciated this as we were travelling with a 3-year-old.
The hotel is an older house but very warm and "homey". The room they gave us was on the 2nd floor, and it had a good queen size bed as well as a 3rd smaller bed for our toddler. The bathroom in the bedroom worked nicely and, aside from the very squeaky hardwood floor, the room was perfect.
The breakfast is ok but doesn't include things like eggs, cheese, cold cuts, etc. It consists of milk, coffee, juice, bread, croissant, honey, jellies, nutella and some dried fruits such as prunes and dates. I was expecting to have some cheese, being in France and all, but I guess part of the reason is that cheese is not really a breakfast item over there...
The staff is VERY kind and helpful. We mentioned we needed a taxi to take us to the train station and the night before they left a note in our door confirming the taxi is reserved.
When we left it was before breakfast time but there was a person in the restaurant who told us we were welcome to have breakfast before the regular time.
The hotel is at 5 minutes walking from the beach.
Saint Jean de Luz is a wonderful place and we highly recommend.
