Visited Pau for 4 days and our stay at Hotel Le Bourbon was fine and what you may expect from a 2 star hotel - no frills but very clean bedroom and a simple but light and airy breakfast room and 'lounge' area
It is located on the corner of Place Clemanceau which was completely renovated a couple of years ago and is now a very modern pedestrianised square with a substantial underground car park (very reasonable fees ) The square itself consists of mainly modern and up market shops
Pau is a very plesant univeristy town with some local places of interest - Chateau /
small old town section and some splendid gardens
We hired a car collected from the very modern but compact Pau airport and took the opportunity to travel to Pyrenees - absolutely stunning with plenty of snow around (about 25 kilometres away) and the coast at Biarritz - lovely resort (about 1 hour in the car) as well as some interesting inland villages and towns
We would have no hesitation in suggesting the hotel for a short stay and the staff were very helpful We asked for a room overlooking the square which was great and quiet due to the very effiicient double glazing and shutters Breakfast (continental) was more than sufficient to start the day well !
