“Lovely hotel but pricey”

We stayed for three nights at this hotel in a standard twin room. The room was nice if a bit basic, but very clean and perfectly acceptable for a three star. The hotel is ideally situated for Les Eyzies and has beautiful gardens and pool area. The staff were very friendly and polite.
However, we took issue with the prices of the food and drink. Don't get me wrong, the food was incredible, but the price of the wine was astronomical. The bar too was way overpriced (we paid about 9 EUR for a shot). We felt as if we were in a three star room in a five star hotel and felt slightly resentful of the high prices.
Nevertheless, we'd recommend the hotel. We'd stay there again, but factor in the restaurant expense next time so it's not so much of a shock when we arrive. Definitely a place to experience!

“A feeling of belonging in a very special place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2010

My husband and daughter are in Paris, but I wanted to spend some extra days in the Dordogne in the Cro Magnon sites. I booked 5 Nights at this hotel because of its location. I am now mid way through my stay. I have grown very fond if this hotel in a very short time. My room is quaint and cozy. The gardens are really lovely. The staff are very welcoming. I am a solo traveler, and very thoughtfully they gave me a table on the terrace with the best view of the sunset. They are very kind about my inability to speak French. I may not know French, but I know food. The dinners here are really magnificent. I have read some of the earlier reviews of this hotel but whatever problems there might have been in the past are solved. Sitting by the pool in the late afternoons I have talked to other guests and everyone is quite satisfied.

“Lovely hotel, good location, bit pricey!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2010

We arrived on the Sunday afternoon to a very warm welcome from the staff on reception and were shown to our room. The room has recently been refurbished and was very nice but I thought a little on the small side for the money, but the bed was really comfy! The young lady that showed us to our room was very helpful and told us about the market in the village the following morning.

Because we had arrived late that day we decided to book a table at the restaurant in the hotel. The food was absolutely lovely, but we did feel a bit on the pricey side! Dinner for 4 of us 250Euros with wine. I thought that the breakfast was included in the price of the room but it wasn't and we paid 14Euro per head.

The gardens and pool area were beautiful and we spent one afternoon relaxing by the pool reading our books, it was peaceful and tranquil.

“Very nice hotel - but . . .”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2010

We spent 4 nights in one of the best Garden Rooms. Room very spacious with A/C at Garden level with patio outside. Lovely garden with plenty of trees for hot days and a lovely swimming pool. The couple, who we presumed were the owners were exceptionally nice.
Main 'But' about Les Glycines concerned the Dinner. We were on Half Board - the menu for which had two choices - for one of which you had to pay an excess charge - 4 euro fo a starter/dessert and au 9 euro for main course. As we were paying a high tariff for the room - we did not think much of this - there was a large a la carte menu and we thought we should have at least had two choices at NO EXTRA CHARGE. I don't drink as I get migraine and my husband asked the Wine waiter to keep the half bottle he hadn't finished one evening for the next night -this went down like a ton of bricks. He - the Wine Waiter hardly spoke to us the next evening! May not be what theFrench do - but very poor manners! Rest of staff were very pleasant.

“Very nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2010

we stayed here for 4 nights with our 2 ten years old daughters.
You have to stay in a suite over looking the garden to be in a quiet spot. But above us was the patio. so noisy from 8 to 11:00 am and from 7 to 11:00 pm.
Pool was very cold. very nice garden, comfortable beds. Old bathroom, but nice. Great garden.
