We stayed for 3 nights as part of a driving holiday in France. It's about a 25 minutre walk to the main beach / town centre. This is a very small and intimate hotel, with only 8 rooms (well 2 apartments, 2 suites and 4 rooms). We had booked a suite and got upgraded to a 2 bed apartment which was nice - they'd did make a big fuss of it but they did say that they try to upgrade people where posible. The whole hotel is furnished in a very funky style that works. We received excellent service, maybe because the hotel was only 50% occupied, or maybe that's just standard. The owner was away when we stayed, so we unfortunately didn't get a ride in his Rolls Royce.
The downside to this hotel is that there is no aircon in the room (well not in the apartment we stayed in anyway) which made it very hot and night and I'm surprised that a room costing over 500 euros a night wouldn't have that. Also, the white wine selection is non existent, with only 4 choices. The one I chose was not available as they'd sold out! I was forced to drink Jacobs Creek which is pretty awful at the best of times but in the in the South of France is sacrilege (the other 2 choices were apparently very sweet wines). They do have an amazing range of champagne if that's you thing and also a decent G&T.
We ate in the hotel one night, the food was pre made and heated up by the staff. It was fairly tasty and cheap, but you certainly wouldn't want to eat there evry night. The is however a very nice restaurant about 10 min walk away (Chez Philippe) and lots of choice in the town.
Overall I would stay here again, and it makes a great alternative to the stuffy Hotel du Palais, but if if the owner reads this, please improve your choice of white wine!!!!
