We spent 3 nights in the Alcyon and enjoyed the hotel and Biarritz so much that we wished we could have stayed a few nights longer. The location is perfect - close the town centre and a short walk to the beach but on a quiet street away from the tourist crowds aong the seafront and central squares.

Eric and Christine were very welcoming hosts, full of useful recommendations for making the most of the town and the immediate area, without ever being intrusive. Eric in particular took time to explain public transport options and to seek out some extra information for us when we asked for advice.

The building itself is a lovely old stone town house with a beautiful wooden staircase and bright and sleekly furnished but homely breakfast room. breakfast itself was delicious with fresh fruit, juices, fresh breads and crosissants with jam, meats and cheeses.

The hotel rooms are small but this is standard in most European hotels and there was still adequate storage space. More importantly, the rooms and bathrooms were spotlessly clean and atrractivelt decorated. A sturdy shutter kept out bright early morning sunlight and the room was also airconditioned: bothe features were invaluable for a stay in the month of Augsta nd ensured a comfortable night's sleep.

We loved the city and hotel, would certainly return and definitely recommend it to others.

Owned and managed by a local family, it has a warm, friendly atmosphere, and they are very helpful regards local wine tasting, restaurants,etc provided you ask. Parking is nearby and costs 10 Euro per 24 hours as long as the car is not moved, and most everything is within walking distance, so this is not a problem. An easy five minute walk to the beaches, ten to the headlands, we were very happy with our stay. The rooms are spacious, each has an ensuite, and the location is quiet, so you are assured of a good rest. Breakfast is Continental in a pleasant corner area. Excellent value for a three star establishment.

My wife and I have just spent 6 nights in the Alcyon and couldn't have been more pleased. We chose the hotel based on the reviews in Trip Advisor and it certainly lived up to it's reputation. The owners were excellent hosts and worked extremely hard to ensure their guests were well looked after. Having read various reviews which were critical of the parking situation, I was a litle concerned as we were driving a hire car and when driving on the opposite side to which I am used, parking is simply another issue I would prefer not to have to worry about. I worried unnecessarily. The park is perhaps 150m away, undercover and costs 9 Euro per day. In our case we were leaving the park at about 10.00 am and returning late afternoon. We were able to park.in the same spot for 6 days and paid each day on departure using a credit card. Painless.

The other pleasing aspect of the hotel is it's location. Central to everything. Overall, a great experience.

After consulting Trip Advisor we booked a room here for four nights in September. I wish we'd booked eight.

Eric and Christine are great innkeepers. The Alcyon is handsomely decorated, spotlessly clean, and very centrally located. I can't think of a better base of operations when exploring Biarritz for the first time, as we were. We walked everywhere, and it was great to set out fortified by the Alcyon's excellent breakfast. I don't know if I'll get to Biarritz again, but if I do, I know where I'll be staying.
