Just back from staying for a week in Tonic. It's just been fully refitted to a good standard. There was still some work going on last week and could be noisey in the morning, but I'd imagine the work should be completed very soon. It's in a great location, 1 min from the beach. Only down side was breakfast cost €18 (over priced so went to a local cafe) and drinks in the bar were totally over priced €4 for 250ml beer. Both the bar and resturant were always empty. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would reccommend Tonic for a stay in Biarritz.

Our money was stolen from our room at the Tonic Hotel. This hotel does not deserve even a 1-star rating, is scummy and unsafe.

Not a 4 star hotel. Location is good, and bar/dinner/lounge area (same area as where the breakfast is) is nice and renovated, but the rooms are from the mid 80's! Ok for a night or just to crash, but nothing more than that. Breakfast was disappointing!

We decided to stay a night in Biarritz at short notice. When offered a room in the Tonic we grabbed it. We were charged 198 euro for a standard room for one night. That is the most we have paid for a room in France in many years. What a letdown. Our room smelt smoky. There was scorch marks on the vanity unit & on the hair-dryer. The hair-dryer was the most inefficient I had every encountered. The room was dark with a small window. The decoration was from another era. The beds were hard. We felt so ripped off. Never again! Don't even dream of booking into this hotel.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Tonic for one night at the end of May.
Noting about this hotel rises above average, other than its location. The staff whilst friendly, politely told us we could not have a cup of coffee in our room at 10.40 at night because the bar was closed. The TV in our room did not work. There were no directions to work the bath 'jacuzzi' and the desk manager was not able to send anyone to help us because he was the only person on duty at 10.40pm.
By way of compensation we were offered some shower and bath lotions. Kinda summed them up.
An average 2 Star Hotel.
