Amazingly cheap so we werent expecting much but the room was spacious with small kitchen, fridge, etc, tv, table, large wardrobe. Nice bathroom with bath too! Good location near the quay so you can walk into town from here too. Overall a real bargain!!

After a shopkeeper gave me the directions to this Hotel appartment in the Chartrons area of Bordeaux I checked in at 17.00hrs. I was given a security code for the door as the reception area is closed after 20.00hrs. I found my room to be clean and tidy with cooking facilities as expected. The shower was fine but a big chip on the bath near the plughole was not to my liking.
Bed was basic but comfortable.
My room was near a gymnasium nearby and there was a lot of noise sounding like air conditioning all evening even though my room was not air conditioned. In the mornings the sound of lots of children is prominent. So a rather noisey place. Streets nearby were grubby and plenty of dogs had fouled the streets and not been cleared up! The best thing I can say is that 3 nights came to 168 Euros or £51 per night which is good compared to inner city Hotel Rates per night. However, break fast is not included as that is another 9 Euros per day (optional).
If you don`t mint a bit of noise then it is basic and fairly good value for money.

There is no receptionist at this hotel after 20.00 so if you arrive later than this be prepared to make a phone call to the security company who will give you a code to open a safe that contains an envelope with your key.
Our room was not clean, especially the toilet which was dirty- and as there was no receptionist when we arrived, there was no way to get toilet paper as it had not been replenished after the previous guest.
The pillows are terrible and our room was not made up during our 3- night stay. I tried to ask the receptionist about it and instead of talking to me, she chose to take a phone call which lasted more than 10 minutes, so I gave up waiting. She was not helpful at all.
If it's 3 or 2 stars you're looking for, this is not it- I would say it's 1 star if there is such a thing. I have stayed in youth hostels which have been better than this. The price for this hotel is reasonable, and that is why we stayed there- but even then it was not worth it. I would have rather paid more than to have stayed here. The location is not great either.

I don't often write negative reviews, however if I can change your mind about staying here then it's worth it. We arrived at 9pm last night. Reception closes at 8pm so the place wad deserted. Luckily I researched the place a little before leaving Nice and the helpful receptionist there phoned City Residence for me. We were given the hotel access code and then a code to the safe where our key, instructions and wifi details were. Got to our room. Studio apartment - has a fold out sofa bed instead of a proper bed. Wifi not working. Shower over a very deep bath (I am slightly disabled - requiring knee replacements - and found this set up extremely difficult to manage. The bed was so uncomfortable that my husband slept on the floor. Spoke to reception when they opened the next morning (9am) and got nowhere. The receptionist was extremely unhelpful and told me it was her new job. There was no management on site to assist.
