“Don't stay here!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2009

What a dump this hotel is. We booked via Travel Republic who normally offer decent hotels at a reasonable price, The staff were ok but the rooms were small and dingy and the bathroom looked as though it should have been on a ferry! As we were travelling we booked this hotel twice, and both times we were bitten to death, but we are not sure what by. They do offer secure parking but charge 7 Euros for the privelidge (this was the only hotel we stayed at in 3 weeks of travelling that charged!) and you had to be careful to avoid the rats, although the only one I saw personally was dead. We stayed at the front and the back of the hotel and it was very noisy and we had to have the window open as it was so hot. Breakfast was not exactly plentiful and you do not even get a plate to eat it off! On a positive note it is only a short distance from the centre, but take a map!

“Cheap but definitely not cheerful :(”

Sometimes cheapest is not best! Despite this being in a good location for the Gare St Jean, the hotel is in serious need of being cleaned and updated.
We stayed on a particularly balmy day/night and this hotel has no air con, luckily the window in the room opened allowing some breeze but also a lot of noise (drunken revellers, trams, car alarms)
The room was particularly small - no space to store luggage without a few deft manouvers and a joke of a wardrobe. The bed spreads had a few dubious stains and cigarette burn marks.
The next morning, after a disturbed night, breakfast was served - greasy croissants, pain au chocolat, watery youghurt, stale bagettes. The coffee was very good though!
This hotel is a joke calling itself 2 star - I have stayed in far better hostels with no official classification.

“Go again-Yes maybe”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2008

Yes you get what you pay for. Room small with the odd on-suite arrangements. Curtain rail hanging off and no plugs except the TV which wouldn't fit the adaptor. But room clean and cleaned every day. Breakfast good value-now at 7 euros. Staff really helpful and 24 hour service. Saw no red lights nearby except in the centre and the tram outside great for getting around a great City. Had room at back-views of flat rooves but very quiet despite being full and slept like a log.

  • Liked — cheap
  • Disliked — lack of plugs

“The Worst Hotel I have ever stayed in!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2008

OK so we knew it was cheap, but the place does not have to be dirty, all those stains on the carpet gave me the shivers. We expected the place to be charmless, the hotel had really small rooms, was in a dubious location but surely they could keep it clean. And to end our 1 NIGHT we even got stuck in the underground car park! But at least I now have a funny story to tell people about our worst ever hotel, it can only get better from now on.

I have stayed at other budget places that are at least clean and friendly.

The city, well, it is very elegant and we had a great meal in a restaurant called the Lone Wolf! The opera house and the grand buildings along the river were memorable as was the local who led us to our hotel in his car as we trailed him across the city.

rdlight district. Hotel has original decor and hotel is about 25 years old. The room was cvery clean and small. Posted rate was 55 euros for a single room. A person had to walk from garage entry to go in from front door. A wheel chair lift was not working. I felt safe when hre, but I am single. I do not consider the hotel a value. If I had a family, I would have absorbed the loss of payment and found boarding elsewhere.
