Rooms were comfortable and clean. Secure protected and free parking. Very reasonable on weekends, slightly higher on week nights rates. Pleasent and nice people run the reception area. We were there for the Barrel tasting of 2009, its 4 blocks from the Rocade, so easy to get to Libourne, or up into the Medoc Chateau. Pessac is the next town. From a business point of view, very functional.

I stayed at the Comfort Hotel Merignac in Sept. 2007 during RWC. Walking distance from airport. Approx. 10km to city centre including 'Hotel de Ville' and 'Victoire'. Bus stop directly opposite the hotel from which you can easily meet a tram to bring you anywhere in the city for a total journey cost of €1.30c.
The rooms are very clean as are en-suites. Yes, the decor is dated but if you are looking for a clean, friendly, in-expensive hotel - this is a good one. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Bar is open until late. Beware breakfast is extra €8.00 per day (a little expensive but a decent buffett none-the-less) but is optional.
English spoken by reception staff and they are happy to drive you free of charge to airport terminal when leaving. For a stop-off, this is a very good hotel at a very good price.

when i read these reviews i thought i came to the wrong site..the comfort hotel in merignac near bordeaux airport was good ..we stayed in room 41and 42 the rooms where good.
I was told the rooms on the right hand side where the cheap rooms..but we took the expensive rooms for 60 euros each, they where clean and the bathrooms where good..
the staff where execllent and the breakfast was ok

I agree with the other reviews; this was a disappointing hotel and not worth the price. Their website advertises free airport shuttle Monday-Friday with no other stipulations, so I booked it as I had an early flight out in the morning. When we arrived, the front desk clerk told us that the shuttle doesn't operate that early and my only option was a 10 euro taxi ride (or walk @ 5:30 AM.) That was irritating and the taxi driver was a surly unpleasant person. The corridor smelled musty and the room was worse...by far the worst two star hotel we stayed in while there. The "twin" bed was more like a cot and I almost fell off of it a couple of times while turning over. The two twin beds were so close together that we were unable to move between them. When we turned on the fan above the door, it seemed to suck in bad smelling air and the "non smoking" room smelled anything but. We later noticed that the carpet was wet in one area where the wall backed up to the bathroom so that didn't help. We stayed in other two star hotels in France that were small but charming and clean. Don't stay here...there are other nearby hotels that appeared much nicer and were just as close to the airport.
