My partner and I booked this hotel based on reviews we had read on Trip Advisor and previous reviews weren't far from the mark.

We weren't in the annexure around the corner like a few of the previous reviews, we were situated in the main hotel location. The location was good, the staff were friendly, the room was big, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the shower was good. Nothing to rave about for this hotel, it was everything I have said it is but nothing outstanding about it.

The only downfall was the fact we had a car and trying to find the closest parking station was a nightmare. There was alot of maddening one way streets and blocked off lanes but I guess that is not a reflection of the hotel, but something to consider if you are driving.

not good value for money small pokey room and even smaller bathroom. Shower could have done with a clean. Had to ask for a kettle even though it was stated in room facilities. Hotel arranged taxi to air[port got totally ripped off. Tried to charge us for breakfast even though we didn't have any. Very disappointed couple from Wales. Stayed 5 nights 1 would have been better.

My wife, 2 year old and I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights in July. It is a great central location from which to explore the city by foot.

The hotel staff are very nice and helpful with excellent English if required.

Parking is not quite as bad as might be thought. While the hotel itself is difficult to get to by car, the public underground car park is not too far by foot. When entering the car park under the square near the opera house and Grand Hotel, park as close to the opposite end of your entry as possible, near the signs for the Grand Hotel spaces. Once you emerge from this exit you are merely 2 minutes from the hotel which is located behind the Grand Hotel. The parking is expensive it cost me €45 for two nights.

The room we had was in the main part of the hotel and was quite dark but relatively big. The room was clean etc and the decoration was recent but a bit too old fashioned for our taste!

The only real problem is the lift. If you are travelling to Bordeaux on a short weekend visit without a child in a buggie or pram its fine. If you are staying longer and have a lot of luggage or a pram/buggie to cart in and out it will get very frustrating as it is quite small, slow and in heavy demand at peak times. It would only fit my wife and the buggie while I would take the stairs and often have to wait a few minutes for them to get down.

It is probably a bit expensive for what it is but then again its location is great and the staff are very helpful.
