“Bordeaux - a beautiful city !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2011

We had a great 5 night holiday break in Bordeaux. Plenty of places to eat and great wines. The hotel is in a fantastic central location easy walking to almost everything. We did a city walking tour (approx 10€ ) and a half day 2 vineyard tour (approx 30€). The buffet breakfast is a must so try and book with a website that offers it included in your booking price - otherwise you will be out and about each morning not only spending lots on a little but also trying to find somewhere. Loads to see and do - but read up and plan your stay.
The riverfront walk on a Sunday was great and the locals all came out to buy at the market then picnic right at the market-side.
BIG TIP ! try the very classy looking wine bar facing the tourist information office - it was very cheap and split a snack of cheese, hams and bread - after we found this place we made the point of starting off each evening here ! !

Room Tip: All rooms were quiet and it did not matter if you were on the main or side street

“Good hotel for a couple of nights”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2010

My husband and I stayed here in June 09, room 203 and stayed 2 nights. The hotel is ina restricted pedestrian zone, so it is hard to get your car there. It is in a good location with many restaurants, cafes and shops nearby. The room was small, but adequate. It had good air conditioning and a decent shower. Windows were double glazed. Breakfast was basic - a cold buffet, but they bring you hot tea/coffee. We found the staff to be freindly, but would not stay here if more than a couple of nights.

“Excellent offer”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2010

Hotel is very well located, in the heart of the Triangle d'Or in Bordeaux - with all points of interest at walking distance! Fair priced and excellent service from staff. We would go back there again and again and again

“Fantastic location. Easy to find on foot.”

We made a reservation a few days ahead of time for a spontaneous 2 night trip to Bordeaux. We knew the location would be good.

I really don't have high expectations for well-located rooms in France under 100E. I thought this hotel was completely acceptable. It was quiet, rooms were a little dated but clean, room was small but not ridiculously so. Unlike other reviews here, the front desk staff was very pleasant, and one of them spoke English fluently which I don't expect but appreciate.

As in most hotels, I thought the breakfast for 15E was a rip-off. What you can do is stop by a bakery and pick up something, then take it to a cafe have your coffee with pastries. We found few cafes that serve breakfast food, but it's fine to bring the food with you.

If you arrive at the train station as we did, take Tram C to stop Quinconces. We could've transferred for a shorter walk, but the walk from there was pretty interesting. Unless you have a European chipped credit card, you must buy the tram ticket with CHANGE. no bills. Took me a moment to figure that out. It costs around 2E40 for two one-way tickets.

“Dingy hotel with obnoxious staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2010

I was shocked at how all sense of character had been removed from this hotel - in serious need of an upgrade, as I agree with the previous reviewer who referred to Miami Vice in terms of the era it reminded me of. I found the staff condescending and unhelpful, the internet slow and quick to kick you off, and the room noisy, being on a main street. That said, with the windows closed, sleep was fine, and the location was perfect. The room and the bathroom were very clean. I would not, though, stay there again.
