“Good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

Great value for a city centre as I booked well in advance which gave me an excellent rate.
A little further from city centre than we thought, and wouldn't have been such a problem if we had been able to use the tram, which is a minefield if you don't have correct change.
Rooms very clean, good hot shower, comfy bed

“Distinctly average experience - they can do better!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2011

The plus points of this hotel are its location near the rail station and tram stop going into the city centre, plus the fact that you usually know what you are getting with an Ibis. The hotel does have free wifi access and an internet point you can use free of charge for 15 minutes at a time. They also gave us a reasonable welcome and a map of the city upon arrival. But in most other respects, I thought that this hotel was decidedly average.

Our room on the 1st floor was facing an inner courtyard, meaning everyone having a cigarette break outside on that level could see straight in. A few plants to improve the view and privacy on that floor would be useful. The walls were thin and you could hear the TV/ conversations in adjacent rooms. The decor needs updating in the hotel's communal areas and the staff seemed tired and unmotivated. We didn't hang out for breakfast, preferring the ambience of one of the city's many cafés.

None of these things make the hotel a bad choice, but I think in such a lovely city as Bordeaux, they face stiff competition, and there are many things that could be done to make this Ibis more than simply adequate.

Room Tip: Try for a room on a higher floor!

“Typical Ibis Hotel”

Room was a good size and vary handy for the train station and trams. Only down sides were,my jacket being stolen from the room, so worth being extra careful with valuables, and the fact that the area is not the best at night time.

“Near the railway station but somewhat far from the centre”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

For those who need to have the railway station near the hotel for some reason , this hotel is OK. In the fron of the station there is also a bus line that will take you to the airport, so another good reason, apart from those classified above.
However there are more hotels in the area and even closer to the station (a bit more expensive), also all the area is in the red district of Bordeaux, for which I strongly recommend not to come back to the hotel at night. There is even a Town Hall plate near the closest bus station saying that a man was killed there for no reason last year.
The windows of the bedrooms are awfull since they are placed so high that you can not see the outside, or so low that they are no higher than your waist line. It is incredible to designe such windows for an hotel. I had to ask another bedroom, since I could not see the outside, and they managed to give another one, still very high, but at least I could see something (no, I am not a short guy, since I am 175cm)
Breakfast is a buffet and it cost around 8 Euros; it is quite alright.
The bed was very good : stedy and not deformed
The soap smells badly, just like raw potatos without their skin; the most weird smell. I had to buy a soap in a supermarket nearby,
