“Villa Novarina”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We stayed with some friends in December 2011. It is a charming and very comfortable hotel with an excellent breakfast composed of organic produce. The hotel is situated in an elegant residential district near the European political centres. An easy 20-30 minutes walk takes you to the City centre but there are very good transport links on the efficient public transport system. Highly recommended.

“Personalized experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

This hotel was a great choice for a 2 days leisure visit of Strasbourg, it was comfortable and offered a very personalized service, a world of difference from hotel chains.
At the reception, we were taken to a couch where we were served our choice of coffee and chocolates, while our check in paperwork was being retrieved, without us even mentioning our names! Magic!
We were then recommended the local attractions and restaurants, while avoiding the tourist traps, a concern of ours. Rooms are very comfy, bathrooms functional, I just wish there was a clock!
The breakfast, an additional charge, was well worth it, offering a extensive assortment of local delicacies, all organic, tasty and healthy. We loved the bread so much that we ended going to their supplier boulangerie to stock up on our way out!

The neighborhood is the embassy district, very quiet, yet walking distance from the center (a nice 15 min walk from Grande Ile) and offering free parking.

“An excleent Boutique Hotel in a quiet area of Strasbourg”

We stayed in this excellent hotel for two nights with friends to visit Strasbourg and the Christmas markets. The welcome was very impressive - friendly, but not intrusive, We really felt as if nothing was too much trouble. The rooms most comfortable and the bathroom large with bath and shower - though a bath robe would have been appreciated . The breakfast was delicious and different local foods were offered on each day. The staff were able to recommend good restaurants and efficiently organised taxis. The owner and staff were enthusiastic and proud of their hotel and this manifested itself in the attentive serivce and excellent facilities.

“interesting alternative”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

Having lived in Strasbourg 40 years ago, I remembered with great affection the area in which the streets bore the names of famous composers. It is an area of embassies and missions to the Council of Europe (nearby) and so I selected the Villa Novarina to enjoy that ambience. The hotel is small, and like any decent lodging in Strasbourg, is not cheap. The room was very nice, with a comfortable bed and an excellent bathroom. My only real hassle came from the noise from above - the wooden floors are very smart but transmit noise very clearly. So sleeping in the room the first night was a bit like trying to rest inside a snare drum. Having said that, however, my second night was very peaceful. The city if a pleasant if lengthy walk away and the adjacent Orangerie garden is a joy. Nearby restaurants are few in number, but the Francesca Italian restaurant gave me a very decent meal for a reasonable price. The staff at the hotel are courteous and helpful, But having the local newspaper on hand - not just "Le Monde" from Paris - would help in knowing what is on where and when in Strasbourg. Strasbourg is a relatively little known city - but well worth a visit.

Room Tip: maybe a top floor room will save you from noisy people above you...

“Quite Nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

This is a very nice place with a great breakfast that features organic breads. It was a bit far out for my personal taste, but there was an easy walk to the shuttle if the weather was nice (unfortunately the weather was rainy when I was there so I ended up taking a lot of taxis). When I called and asked for hot tea in the evening it was delivered promptly to my room and everyone was friendly. My only real complaints was that the laptop left on the 2nd floor landing for guests' use was sitting in a room with a sensor light, so every minute the lights would turn off and I'd have to wave my hands in the air to get them back on, which was annoying. And this used to be a house, but I think for security/fire prevention sake, they had to add doors everwhere and where I was on the third floor was like a maze of fire doors. Everything is very new and techie (like electronic shutters on windows) but there was less thought to where to hang wet towels (just one knob) and bathroom counterspace. There was an artsy metal figure of a woman in the room that I hope was also a place for wet towels because that's where I put mine (sorry if it wasn't). Business guests seemed to really enjoy the place; if I had to do it over again I'd probably go closer to the old town part, but that's not the fault of the B&B.

Room Tip: If you have problems with stairs, don't get a third floor room. There is an elevator in the buil...
