“Budget hotel in a relatively expensive city”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

We stayed 1 night at this hotel in August. Easy to locate as the hotel was indicated by street signs pointing in the right direction. Had to ring the desk bell a few times before someone arrived at the service desk, however attendant was nice and friendly and described how to get to town on the tram which is not far away. Room itself was shabby however and looked like it was due to be renovated - BUT for 40 euros the night, who's complaining? Bathroom is also quite small and even for me as a small person, it felt a little cramp. Wifi was free and worked well. Place was relatively quiet and we were able to sleep ok. Parking was free but make sure you ask the front desk lady for the code (one for the carpark and one for the hotel) if you're getting back late in the night otherwise you'd be locked out for the night, as there are no instructions telling you what to do if you find yourself in this situation, so be warned! Strasbourg can be quite an expensive town we found, so this was quite good value for money in this respect. I would consider staying here again.

Also, in case you're wondering where to eat for dinner - I would highly recommend "Au Pont St Martin" in the "Petite France" area - spectacular water views especially as the sun is settling (choose upstairs seating), but also excellent food - go for the menu set as it often works out cheaper than ordering individually. Out of all the other restaurants we saw, it gave the most interesting food combination on their set menu.

“Good Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2010

I have just come back from that hotel, it is a cheap option in the city, the rooms are clean and the bed and tv are ok, you must realize that the rooms are not so big and not so new, they had a tiny bathroom but with everything including a shower it also had a little table on the wall and a open closet.

To get to it you must take the tram B (there are just five routes in strabourg), you must go to the last station of this line (Tiergaeertel) and walk like five squares to the hotel. It is like 20 minutes to the town center but it is not a problem because the public service of strasbour is extraordinary. I will use it again if neccesary. It also has free Wifi

“OK with nothing exceptional”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2009

The hotel was the last one available left during Christmas market period in Strasbourg. Its location is ok and can be convenient for people not motorized since the tramway is about 400 meters far away from the hotel (the website information are [--]). The tram takes around 30mins to go to the center (the hotel is at the terminus of the tram B). However there is tram service every 5 mins. The breakfast is quite good. The personal is very friendly and helpful with a lot of information. The rooms are however very small and we had 2 single beds whereas we have booked a big bed.
The price is ok. (58 without the breakfast, +7 with it).

“Hotel o.k., but website information rubbish”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2009

The stay was o.k. and the breakfast buffet good. In the hotel good information about getting around in Strasbourg.
But:
I booked the hotel the same day I arrived. On the confirmation form was written that breakfast is 6,50€, at the reception they said 7,00€ and charged me this without comment. The driving instructions also on the confirmation said "turn left after the ATAC supermarket"; All ATAC markets have been renamed "Simply" in February or March, so I would have ended in the Atlantic Ocean, if I had followed the instructions. Apparently the Best Hotel chain does not care about the correctness of information in their webpages. This wrong information is still today (14 June) in their website in spite of the fact that I wrote them.

“No frills but adequate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 May 2005

My family stayed in this hotel one weekend in May 2005 while visiting family in the Alsace area. We found the rooms to be very small and no-frill. We could not get adjoining rooms, so our 12-year-old daughter stayed alone in the room next to ours. They do have a larger room with a large bed and a smaller bed off to the side, but with two children (one being a baby) we still needed 2 rooms with all our luggage. The bathroom has only a shower and no tub. The front desk is not open after 10 p.m. at night. We could not call between rooms on the phone. Air circulation was to open the window. There was no elevator. We did find the hotel very clean and the staff friendly. They have a very good continental breakfast buffet for 6.50 Euros (less for children). The parking lot and main front door are locked at night and openable only with a code, providing good security. I would recommend this place for a "budget stay" as the price was excellent.
