“Nice hotel - location can't be better”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

We came to hotel cathedrale for two nights and had no problems find the hotel as it is exactly at the place de la cathedrale and not far from the next tram station. The room was already free at 11.30am and the welcome was very friendly. Generally the service personal was always helpful and friendly.
The room on the first floor was very nice, not very spacious but with a nice, very clean and rather big bathroom. It had airconditioning, a small table and chair and a comfortable double bed. The windows pointed towards the courtyard and even offered a view at the cathedral tower. There are restaurant tables in the courtyard and in the evening one heard people sitting there - but not very disturbing and with closed window almost not noticable. Only the bells of the cathedral that are ringing from 7am could still be heard.
A full breakfast buffet presents a good start in the day and with all mayor places to visit nothings stops you from exploring the city.
Very affordable nice rooms in a perfect location are definetly the big plus of this hotel, if you want to find a down side it might be the not absolutely quit surrounding - which is kind of natural in the very heart of the city.

“Affordable and basic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2011

A colleague and I stayed here and were quite excited that our rooms overlooked the plaza and the magnificent church. The hotel was small but seemed clean and orderly (however, orderly does not apply to the floor plan which is dizzingly intricate). The people working there were quite nice and helpful. The only downside is the amount of noise coming from the square to the wee hours of the morning. This is not the fault of the hotel but it is a bit of warning if you seek a room with a view. Between that and the kitchen crew from the Kummerzell Maison restaurant that seem never to stop working, it can get quite loud. The price is in line with its basic and average accommodations but it is sufficient.

“Reward vs. risk”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2011

The reward is being steps from one of the world's most impressive cathedrals, large rooms and a very quick and easy check-in. The risk is the late-night noise, the lack of coherent wifi and the unfortunately small windows.

The main downtown area of Strasbourg is very easily navigable on foot or tram, so staying in a fancy location is not really necessary or worth the risks and extra cost. The room is big and the tub enormous -- a wonderful bath taken. But would have been better off elsewhere with working wifi.

The valet is a cool guy and speaks good English, helpful with baggage and local tips. Afternoon/evening front desk guy also very helpful and courteous.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay but the reward was probably not worth the risk.

“a room with a view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2011

Charming hotel in front of the Cathedral in Strasbourg, cosy rooms, rich breakfast, friendly staff, although located in the pedestrian zone you have a parking at the Place Gutenberg within a 2 minutes walking distance from the hotel
Ask for a room with a view on the Cathedral and you will be woken up by the sound of the bells.

Room Tip: ask for a room with a view on the Cathedral

Clean, interesting architecture, friendly, helpful staff, and amazing location. Paid 75 euro for our double (no view). Didn't hear any bells between 10 pm and 7 am (Weds night). Recommended by Rick Steves.
