“Good budget hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 April 2010

Compact, lovingly decorated and tidy this intimate hotel is great choice. This affordable gem is located in the shopping district with views of the pedestrian square, and a 10 minute walk to the church. We stayed for 2 nights. The reception staff were friendly and helpful in sightseeing and restaurant choices. I had read other reviews that had mentioned noise (note: there are tram tracks as the hotel is on the main road and also faces central pedestrian square with fountains, but felt very safe). We were on the 5th floor facing the street and our room was not as noisy as some other reviewers. If you are a light sleeper request that or a higher floor. I think it was a 20-25 minute walk to the train station if you do not mind hoofing it.

One negative: Although we loved our room, I loved that all the rooms were named and the tastefully decorated interiors reflected the colour scheme and we wished the website was working better so we could choose our room – it’s part of the fun (their website is tricky – we could not convert to English and in French room information was missing – likely a browser/code issue, so we did our booking via email instead after checking various booking sites for the best deal) - Please, it was very user unfriendly. I tried different machines/different internet shops.

Fantastic selection of restaurants to choose from and town to site see. Strasbourg is a dining delight and a pretty city.

“Stay Away from this one!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 May 2009

We booked this hotel for 2 nights. It is almost impossible to find by car, with all the one way streets. The hotel has no parking, but recommends the nearby public garage. There are drunks and bums everywhere in the square near the hotel and in the parking garage. We inspected the room upon check-in and found that the floor slanted about 30 degrees, with the head of the bed at the lowest point. We also found that the bathroom sink drain was disconnected, and any water ran out onto the floor. When we brought this to the desk clerks attention, they refused to provide us with another room. They said they would have someone fix the sink the "next day." Obviously this was unacceptable, so we left and checked into the nearby Sofitel. There is where you should go!

“small but pretty”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2009

we were there for 4 nights and the staff was very helpful as we had alot of problems with the internet. They actually gave us a cable (cost 10 euro to buy!). Loovvvee the hotel. It's so pretty that we overlooked the tiny space which is ok for couples, maybe not families. The room Vanille is really pretty and the only one with a big bathroom and bathtub for 2! The location is a killer...it's so central we could offload shopping bags 3 times in a day...plus it's so cold outside that we could pop in anytime...which was a great relief. There was a portable electric heater that worked very well. the hotel gives discount for public parking too (25% i think). Didn't take the breakfast since there are tons and tons of salon de the and pattisier within walking distance scatter all over! The one oppostie Virgin called WInter is lovely for its ambience and pastry but on the high side (2 person, 5 pastries with 2 cafe = 21 euro). For a romantic getaway, that was really the room for me and my husband. Love it!

“Le Kleber Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2008

Booked this hotel in June for a 5 day stay at Christmas. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, but we were not given the room we had booked, and instead two twin beds had been squeezed into a small space. We found the room claustrophobic, with no space for folded clothes at all. When I queried this at reception, I was told that three people wanted a room, so they had put a third bed into the room we were supposed to have. The room was clean and warm. However, the breakfast was awful and cost 8 euros. There was virtually no food left on our first morning, with just yoghourts and a couple of hard rolls. We
therefore cancelled breakfast for the rest of our stay and found a Brasserie which offered a full continental breakfast for 6 euros a head. Much nicer,

“tiny but lovely”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2008

Some rooms are very small but they are spotless and with very nice decoration. Check the website for photos. Book the big rooms if you want more space. Comparing with the other hotels in the city, and believe us, we have seen many during our search for accomodation, it has excellent value for its money. We totally reccomend it for young travellers who want something very clean, full of character but also affordable.
