“Loved it”

This hotel is one of the nicest hotels of this level we’ve stayed in. We had booked two rooms and both were really big rooms with a bed area and a desk/sitting area with two nice chairs to relax in. There were extra pillows in the closet and a safe. The bathroom was a decent size and the shower just big enough for two. On the desk was a setup to heat water with coffee, tea and the necessary sweeteners and creamer. And the cups were ceramic, not paper. The rooms were quiet and very comfortable. Our travel was in winter so we had no need to open windows. Then, I imagine, there would be street noise. I didn’t notice if there was A/C. We had requested one room have twin beds and, although the beds were pushed together when we arrived, it was easy to pull them apart. And there was also a third twin bed in the room making it perfect for a couple with a child or three adults. Breakfast was a large buffet of fruits, meats (hot and cold), eggs, breads and pastries, coffee, tea, OJ, and nicely displayed.

“Brilliant location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

I stayed two nights at this hotel with a friend as we were in town for the 2011 Christmas Market.

(-)
First, which was not a big issue for us but might be for others, the hotel website lists that they have parking facilities. The parking is in fact in a separate parking garage a few minutes away. The walk is quick and it's not a huge deal, but if you're travelling with kids it might be somewhat unpractical.

Second, the bed was a nightmare. Super squeaky, kept me up most of the first night. By the second night I was used to it, however, so slept fine. The rooms are small, as other people have pointed out, but for us that was not an issue as we anyway didn't go there to spend time in a hotel room.

The breakfast buffet is not brilliant. It has very limited choice, but if you're not fussy you'll be able to secure a good foundation for the day. The fresh-squeeze orange juice machine seemed to be a hit with the kids.

They were experiencing some issues with the elevator on our first night there. Again, we're young and in good shape, so walking four flights of stairs was no drama, but with kids or elderly it wouldn't be a huge hit. It was only that one time, however, so might not be a recurring issue.

(+)
The location is absolutely brilliant, you're literally right across the bridge from the old town making it very easy to take it all in.

The staff were very nice and helpful. I called in advance to let them know we'd be late for check-in, and that might just have been the friendliest phone call I've ever had with a hotel employee. Definitely a plus for this place.

It's not pricey. We were very, very late to book, and in any other hotel the weekend would've cost us an arm and a leg. So all in all, for the price and the late notice I'm pretty happy with the choice.

Room Tip: Ask them to get a room where the bed doesn't squeak! :)

“Not bad, in the business room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

I travelled in December on a business trip (EU Parliament plenary session) and got a "business room".

On the POSITIVE side: tidy, a good smell in the rooms, little but renovated bathroom, wide TV screen, tea and water boiler in the room.
On the NEGATIVE side: old bed with apparently old materass (it made funny noises!), rooms are little and breakfast is relatively poor in quantity and choice.

Awful value for money during the EU parliament plenaries weeks (around 200 euros per night, with breakfast). Also, very far from the EU institutions area. Very convenient for visiting the city centre and close to the train station.

“A great little hotel in Strasbourg!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

A great hotel in a great location. Close to the main train station. Easy to walk to all parts of the city. Rooms are on the small side but they are comfortable. The only negative is that it can be quite noisy if your room is facing the street, as you can hear people late at night who are drunk. Free wi-fi provided. Prices are reasonable and offers good value for money. I would be very happy to stay there again.

“Pleasant hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

The hotel is over all nice with friendly people. I was unfortunate to have a room on the top floor with a slanted ceiling which made getting in and out of one side of the bed very difficult to do without bumping your head. I had booked a superior room and it was spacious for Europe. Also important for others to know, the bathroom did not have a tub, just a shower. The breakfast is pretty expensive (16 euro) for what it is (scrambled eggs, cold cuts, bread, and juices), but there is a bakery just on the corner. Location is within walking distance of the city center and right by the train station, convenient if this is your mode of transportation. During the Christmas market season it is very over priced.
