When we checked in, I must admit I was disappointed. I had expected more from the 2nd highest rated Strasbourg hotel on tripadvisor. Since we didn't visit the others, I really cannot compare, but will share our experience.
The positives: It is indeed convenient for those traveling by train, and the staff stored our luggage upon check-out so we could enjoy the city before departing on a late train. The staff is wonderful and friendly, with good suggestions for restaurants and even a late night pizza delivery service. The rooms, and especially the bathrooms, are very clean and modern, particularly for an historic old hotel. The breakfast buffet had a nice variety of options and a wonderful cappuccino machine.
The downsides: The elevator, which had a posted capacity of 4, could only accommodate one person at a time with luggage. Since there was only one elevator, we had to wait for each member of our family to ascend to the 5th floor separately. I wish the staff had explained that our room key must be inserted in a slot by the door to activate the lights. We thought there was some electrical malfunction. There were very few electrical outlets in the room, such that we had to unplug the kettle to free up a single outlet to charge our electronics. The only outlet in the bathroom was limited to shavers, so there was no outlet convenient to a mirror for hair styling. My daughters thought the hairdryer hung on the bathroom wall was a joke and gave up trying to dry their long hair with it. The bed in the Queen room was really the same as the twin bedded room for our kids, except I think they put a single sheet over the 2 mattresses in our room. The twin duvet covers just met in the middle of the bed, so it was hard to keep covered while sleeping.
I think our big mistake was booking a "comfort room." I've had cruise ship cabins that were larger than this room. We had a hard time finding spaces for our luggage where we wouldn't trip over it. I suppose if we had booked a larger room, we may have been more satisfied. As a Best Western Diamond member, we anticipated the benefit of the best available room, but the hotel was fully sold out, so no upgrades were available. All in all, we had a satisfactory stay for a reasonable price.
Room Tip: Spend a bit more for a larger room.

Dear Sir,
First of all, I would like to thank you very much for having taken the time to fill in the electronic review regarding your stay at our property. Your opinion is very important to us.
I am delighted to read that you have enjoyed our location, service and the cleanliness of the room, as well as the contemporary features of the room.
I apologize for not exceeding your wishes regarding the size of the room and elevator. As you have noticed, the hotel is over 100 years old and it is not easy to fit a large elevator in an old building. The Executive and Deluxe rooms are definitely larger than the comfort rooms.
We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again for a next stay in Strasbourg and remain with BEST regards,
Véronique Siegel, CEO
