Two months before our trip to Strasbourg in December 2009, we found it difficult to find a budget room. Apparently rooms fill up quickly during the Christmas season. At 84 euros a night for a double, plus an additional 8 euros each for breakfast, this place was a bit too pricey for our taste.
The room was clean but shabby with water-stained walls. The bed was comfortable and we had a nice hot shower. The location was great: right across from a tram stop and a 5 -10 minute walk to the main train station. There were grocery stores close by (always a plus) and you can walk to many of the town's attractions. The area around the hotel did feel a bit seedy (and we come from a big city). I'd recommend traveling light and being alert when walking to the train station.
The hotel allowed us to leave our bags after we had checked out. It was an unsecure room that anyone could enter in the breakfast room, but lots of other people left their stuff too and we didn't have anything stolen.
