I booked the Regent Petite France via Alpharooms less than a week before travel, due to changing a flight to Strasbourg. I was due to fly on the same day that there was the union strikes and just didn't want to get caught up in any delays if there were any, so I changed my flight to the Tuesday instead of the Wednesday and book this hotel. I had already booked the Sofitel for the next two days I was in Strasbourg and I wish that I had stayed put in the Regent as it was a lot more relaxing and the room I stayed in was perfect.
I arrived later in the evening and was exhausted, but still decided to walk from the train station to the hotel and it was very easy. Strasbourg is actually a really nice, small city and easy to get around walking. The hotel is located in a private, quiet area in the old town by the bridge and views of the river. The entrance was decorated with lovely Christmas decorations and it is very stylish and trendy. The reception staff were young and very friendly. My room was even better than what I expected and in a very quiet and discreet location, right in the corner at the end of a private corridor on the second floor. It was a very spacious room with two separate beds pushed together, so it was actually for two people, but I luckily got put here because the hotel wasn't full that night (the next two days it was busy, because the rock band I was in town to see checked in just as I left the next day!). The cocktail bar is open until 1.30am and is very hip, there are pictures of various French celebrities who have been past guests. I had breakfast included in my stay and it was very typical French continental breakfast with an option of scrambled eggs, bacon and tomatoes for cooked food and some fruits, breads and the usual things. Not as much choice as at usual hotels in England, but it was good enough. The bonus about The Regent is that there is a sauna here, with a separate shower, bath robes and slippers provided. I regretted not having stayed in this same hotel for all three nights I stayed in Strasbourg, because the room I had with my friend in The Sofitel was nowhere near as modern and stylish decor as the room at The Regent, nor was the bathroom any match to the spacious bathroom and separate toilet I had here. There was no sauna or any other leisure facilities at The Sofitel and it actually worked out as more expensive, because I had to pay an extra 50 euros a night to have two separate beds and the room at The Regent had twin beds anyway. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay somewhere comfortable and friendly, but with that touch of modern luxury in Strasbourg.
Room Tip: If you want a stylish, spacious and very quiet room, choose second floor room No. 226
