“Great hotel with great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

The hotel is located in the heart of Strasbourg and it is easy to walk to both the train station and the trams. The room was very cosy, clean and fairly big and the bathroom had a bathtub. I had a view towards the street which was nice and not noisy at all. Breakfast was alright and the staff helpful. I will definitely stay here again.

“Excellent location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

Our room on the 1st floor (126) was very spacious and had a wonderful jet stream bathtub. Welcoming and friendly staff. Location was ideal for visiting the sights and the Christmas Markets. Very clean and warm. Expected it to be noisy on New Year's eve but it was very quiet thanks to the rolladen (shutters) on the windows. I always appreciate it when a hotel mini bar has enough space left inside for you to put your own water, wine, sekt inside. I'd stay here again.

Room Tip: The corner room #126 was spacious and had a nice bathroom.

“Fantastic friendly hotel in the middle of this beautiful small city, Xmas Markets”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011

Fantastic friendly hotel right in the middle of this beautiful small city. Our room on the 4th floor over looked roof tops of Strasbourg and we could see the cathedral, very clean very warm and very comfortable. All the staff were smiling, approachable, efficient and entered the spirit of our Christmas market trip. The city is small and compact and all area’s can be easily walked, there is a tram service but only covers the main streets while the interesting sights are down all the small streets and alleyways.
When arriving get the Train from the airport to the Station in Strasbourg and it’s an easy 10 min walk to the Hotel.

Strasbourg is not easy to get to as we flew via Amsterdam but this means there a no chavs from low budget airlines, all in all the place while slightly expensive has a class civilised atmosphere unspoilt by the “ Benidorm he we go here go crew”.

Visit Notre Dam Cathedral and climb t the top. The Astronomical Clock while great to see and appreciate didn’t live up to the hype at the 12.30 show.

Petite France is a must to visit with lovely romantic cosy restaurants serving homely local food great wine and fantastic beer..

The personal audio tour which you get from the Tourist information centre at the Cathedral is a must, it cost 5.50 Euro and takes 1.5 hours. It takes longer if you stop of for lunch, pastries and/or coffees

Great Xmas markets al over the city

The 12 Apostils Bar next to Cathedral serves fantastic beer from the menu at the table, take a seat and wait to place your order.

On an extended visit take the train [ 30 mins ] to Colmar which is a picture post card typical Alsace town, its well work the journey as the views from the efficient train service are wonderful

Room Tip: Ask for the better rooms with views on the 4th Floors over looking the roof top and city

“First night horrible, second night great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

The first night we stayed in room 240.. we thought it would be quiet and restful. Not so, the room overlooked a no traffic street, but there were "street" people out front most of the evening and lots of traffic noise as there were delivery trucks going up and down. Also air conditioning leaked and our suitcases became quite wet. AC also made lots of noise (not enough to drown out street noise). We requested a move and were moved to room 242.. what a difference! Everything worked and room, even with the windows open, was very quiet.

Breakfast was a real treat.. lots of good things and worth every pennny of the E10. Also central location of the hotel was wonderful.. within easy walking distance of everything there is to see.

Staff were very co-operative and helpfu.

Room Tip: See comments.. street side very noisy, even thought it is supposed to be a no traffic street!

“Good city hotel - if you don't mind noisy neighbours”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

The location of the hotel is great - right in the centre of the town, within walking distance of the main city attractions. The hotel has authentic, almost historic feel to it, although it has been recently renovated. The look is good, but the quality of the materials is not great. There are limited amenities available on site (small restaurant, always empty bar, not much recreational offering) but service was friendly and accommodating, which made the stay very pleasant. Biggest problem was the people outside the hotel. It seems that local "new-hippies" have taken home on the pedestrial walkway immediately outside the hotel - if your window happens to be facing this way, it is constant drunken yelling, barking of dogs and police sirens. Shame as otherwise the hotel would make a great place to stay.
