We booked based on reviews from TripAdvisor. We were glad we did - it really is worth paying a bit more than a basic hotel to have a wonderful experience. We stayed for 4 nights and it was a home away from home. Very charming.
We stayed in a deluxe room and it was enormous. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom had a massive bath and shower, and two sinks. The heated towel rail with lots of bars was a lifesaver as we could do some basic washing (into our 3rd week of travel, this was great). Of course the hotel has a laundry service but we didn't want to spend the money on it...we'd rather spend it on a nice restaurant!
Turndown service was lovely and they left little treats each night. Loved the truffles. Breakfast was lovely, great for a 4 star hotel. There was a wide range of pastries, tea, fruit, salmon and cooked items.
The room itself was very quiet, looking onto an enclosed courtyard.
The location was brilliant, in walking distance to all attractions and the train station. Well worth doing a train trip down to Colmar while you are in Strasbourg. Many good restaurants around the place. Wi-fi was 9 euros for 48 hours.
We would love to stay there again, we can understand why it is number 1 in Strasbourg.
