We just walked up to this place and we got a room right away. It was 215 Euro for the night. Perhaps a little high, the room was looking right out into other windows. If we had a room overlooking the courtyard that would have been better I suppose. I suggest asking for such a room. The courtyard is adorable! And you can't say it affords less privacy because we were so close to the other building that we were waving to some children in one of them while we brushed our teeth in the morning.
The service was a little stiff, maybe true to French stereotypes. But the room was clean and charming and the bath was nice. I liked that the bath-room and the toilet were completely separate. And the outside of the hotel and the courtyard were so charming and lovely. The adjoining restaurant was very pretty, great for picture-taking. They were a little stiff in there too but I suppose it was supposed to be formal service. We only had dessert there, wish we had had dinner because dessert was wonderful. But when we asked at the front desk for a great restaurant with "traditional food" they sent us to a local casual, touristy-type place with less than mediocre food. Then when we looked at the menu at the hotel restaurant we were thinking that it was exactly what we had been looking for. We later learned that in France when you ask for "traditional" it is something like a diner in the states. If you want really high-quality food; some of it will be traditional to the region and some of it won't but it will be high quality food, you have to ask for "gastronomie". So we were a little surprised that they sent us to such a bad place when they have such a great restaurant right there.
But, the location is ideal for sightseeing! And, oh the charm is superb. The breakfast was good, but pricey, 15 euro each. But it was nice, assortment of cheeses and meats, good croissants, fresh fruit, yogurt, freshly-squeezed juice........worth the price, imo.
Overall, a nice place.
