A nice hotel with well appointed rooms. But beware eating there! Our evening meal was so slow ( 45 min between courses) ..this was not just slow but disorganised.Admittedly the resturant was full...perhaps overfull..but that was no excuse after three hours we left and complained...and suggested that they refund part of the cost..which they did not do.

We stayed for 3 nights in this lovely hotel occupying a historical building (Maison des tetes) in Colmar. It's a charming family run hotel, full of character, with an idyllic inner courtyard where breakfast and dinner are served weather permitting. Our room decoration seemed to me a little outdated with old fashioned blankets, but it was very clean during all our stay. It had safebox, minibar and free WiFi connection. The owners and staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent, though not in buffet style but served in our table. But it was of exceptional quality and contained fresh "baquette" bread and tasty croissants, fresh fruits, juice from freshly squeezed oranges, jams and a good variety of first class hams. Top of all, a choice of about a dozen of the best French cheeses from which you could choose 3 pieces. The parking in a backyard was free and protected during the night.
All in all, a very good hotel in which I am very willing to return for 3rd time (been here for 1st time back in 2003).

The Maision des Tetes is a fabulous hotel in Colmar. Marc and Carmen are delightful hosts and made our stay most pleasant. The courtyard leading to the entrance is charming and perfect for dinner if the weather is good. Dinner and petit dejeuner are excellent. Rooms are comfortable in size. Try to book a room overlooking the courtyard if possible. The Musee Unterlinden is a 3 minute walk from the hotel. We had a fabulous stay here and would highly recommend it to all.

I was at first a little hesitant to book this hotel. While the reviews were excellent and the location good, I wasn't sure I wanted to spend this much (I lean toward taking more trips, spending more on food/wine but staying in lesser quality hotels).

La Maison des Tetes was simply wonderful. My mom and I enjoyed four nights in Colmar with impeccable service at every turn. Upon arrival the desk attendant greeted us warmly and personally escorted us to our room (taking out bags as well).

Parking (complimentary) is behind the building (simply drive just past the hotel and you'll see the sign for the driveway and parking area). Push the little buzzer button and you'll be able to enter from the rear door.

We did decide to splurge on the hotel breakfast. Yes, it's expensive but for unlimited wonderful coffee, fresh juice, fruit, pastries, cured meats and an awesome selection of French cheeses it was worth the treat. If French cheeses aren't your thing you may wish to have your breakfast elsewhere.

We also enjoyed the restaurant one evening for an unfortgetable dining experience. Definitely good a meal here - you'll be glad you did!

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed the hotel and thought every euro was well spent!
